I think the newscaster calling the New Black Panthers an "activist group" is being too kind. Like the pastor said, they show up looking for trouble and/or attention. There is no reason to believe that the perps were taken into custody without enough evidence to do so. The NBP are concerned...

I agree with you tlcya. Perhaps this will be the last straw for the good people of Brunswick, and they'll come together to take their city back from the corrupt and the gangs. The news about this commissioner is jaw-dropping.

He may have had the gun, but they don't have evidence of him shooting it. Maybe right now, they only have mom's testimony that the older boy was the shooter?

No, I meant planned ahead of time...not so much like he didn't intend to shoot at the time. More like, I don't think this was something the two boys plotted out their actions against this baby well in advance. I absolutely believe they intended to rob, then to kill both mom and baby.

I think along with mom picking him out of a line up, the police are certain they have the right people in custody. bolding mine

I agree with you, Donjeta. If this was a planned attack, it was poorly planned by the perps indeed. Broad daylight, leaving at least one (possibly a neighbor too?) eyewitness, etc. Those two were caught really quickly. Of course being so young, maybe they just are bad at planning...

(((hugs))) I'm so sorry that you went through that. Very heartbreaking, and I think that I might have made that choice too. I don't know that there's a "good" way to handle these things. You can only do what you need to do to cope with the loss.

Mom says in her story that she was shot first, but didn't realize she was hurt. I think she says he fired one into the ground, then at her head (grazing her ear), then her leg. At that point he threatened the baby. Of course, while one is being shot at and threatened, it is possible that she...

I'm sure that mom will be second guessing herself about what she could have done differently. IMO a person that would shoot a baby in the face might have done so even if she handed him everything she had. :(

I think it's that, and the description of the crime seemed unbelievable for me. As awful as it is for a parent to kill a child, it seems to happen waay too often. Now the actual story of what happened (as much as we know at this time) is truly horrifying. Someone just walking up and...

Considering their ages, I wouldn't be surprised if they had talked. Especially the younger one.

Yep, the older one was the shooter. So the one she describes as about 10 would be the other. I'm not sure he'd be able to keep this to himself.

Good question. I read at some point, someone spotted one possible suspect running down the middle of the street.

I'm not sure if we're using any names yet, so I took them out. Apparently, this is her second loss of a child to violence. :(

Looking at the photos at Elly Mae's link, there is a picture of the stroller with little yellow number tags around it. Looks like that's where they maybe found casings. It's so sad to see a baby stroller in the middle of the crime scene. :(

I heard this story on the radio this morning while taking my daughter to school. We heard the headline that a toddler had been shot in the head during a robbery, and we both cringed. When I heard the next part about the mom with a leg wound, my bs meter kicked in. Not that bizarre, senseless...
