It's construction season in Vermont-- and if you didn't know it-- all you'd have to do is read the electronic billboards... billboards that should have been displaying an Amber Alert when Brooke Bennett went missing two weeks ago.
"They just didn't contact us. If we'd been contacted, we would have put our system in place," said John Zicconi of the Vt. Agency of Transportation.
Vt. State police say they forgot to contact the Agency of Transportation.

Sgt. Kris Carlson, who commands the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children task force, said Friday that sifting through hard drives, peripherals and networks will take three specialists at least another three weeks.

I imagine that the "alert button" is the red, triangulated exclaimation point in the upper right corner of a post. "Hitting" the mark will alert a moderator to a questionable posting.

I need to say something. I found this post incredibly mean. I am not a gossip monger and yes I do have children. And I know from them, and from being involved with their school, that there are sad and terrible things that go on with a lot of children, in Brook's age group and all age groups. It is heartbreaking. I asked some questions about some strange things in the evidence and what they might mean. That is was "sleuths" do. Brooke for much of her life was around two men who are now up on federal charges for child *advertiser censored*. It isn't a gigantic stretch of the imagination to wonder if this may have affected her life previous to the murder. I didn't ask that question to be salacious but because I want to find out the truth about the criminals that took Brooke's life.

If we are not allowed to question the evidence and discuss what it may mean, this board is pointless. For you to suggest that I brought up these questions just to be mean or gossipy is just disgusting.

I'm with Dark Shadows, put me on "ignore." This will be my last post.

I HOPE (an angry rant)

I hope that MJ is fried.
I hope if MJ somehow ends up with only prison time that the other inmate humiliate and degrade him just like I suspect he did Brooke.
I hope Cassandra and Denise end up penniless living with their "he's just sick" mother.
I hope Savannah and Jim file a wrongful death claim and get all properties of MJ plus however much the jury awards them from the state of Vermont- I hope Savannah heals from this trauma and goes on to become a self sufficient woman possibly even a future law maker herself
I hope that little "C" is removed from this situation although who would take care of her both sides of her family appear dysfunctional. I hope a trust fund is set up for her future.
I hope the laws in Vermont change to start protecting the child instead of the perverts.

Hold on a second. It's easier to step back and take a breath. I imagine that most of the anger should be directed at me since I began the topic with a posting much earlier than yours. I know you are mad. You deserve to be. But try not to take everyone's anger upon your shoulders.

It was my election to post an inquiring comment upon a very sensitive subject at the wrong time.

This case is just so gut wrenching and heart breaking that emotions are very raw. It disturbed me to the point of having to walk away from it for awhile. When I did decide to come back to read threads about Brooke's murder there seemed to be many posts that were leaning towards blaming the victims. Usually that doesn't happen here at Websleuths and it sickened me!!!

I'm not pointing any fingers at you, You just happened to post about it now.

Personally, I am sick of the victims being targeted. The victims have suffered horribly ending with the murder of a beautiful young 12 year old. Not sure why things seem so different here at Websleuths the past week or so, but I hope it stops!!

VTNance..I want to say THANK YOU for your post. I am new here and I have never thought anything I read was mean or gossipy..just very informative and believe that this is what this is all about. We are all here and should be able to post as we want or ask questions as along as we abide by the rules. The "I'm not afraid to hit the alert button" had me somewhat stunned. I am a mother of 3 and grandmother of 7. I did not feel anyone was bashing Brooke by questioning anything. Thnks again VTNance and please continue to post.

Thank :woohoo:you ZOOL for the info the the ALERT BUTTON and also for all your very informative post. Anger should not be directed toward anyone on this board. We all try and help each other.
