Wow, continued for six months. Contrast this case which will likely carry on for two or more years if he doesn't plea - with Becky Bliefnick's case which had a guilty trial verdict in 90 days.

Criminal proceedings against the husband of a Simi Valley woman killed late last year will be delayed for six months, a judge decided Monday.

Ventura County Superior Court Judge Patricia Murphy granted the delay in the preliminary proceedings until Oct. 17 after being told the prosecution and defense attorneys had agreed to it. One of the attorneys is said to be unavailable for several months for undisclosed reasons.

Ali, who spoke to the court over video, agreed to the continuance. He said he understood that the delay would postpone the dates of a preliminary hearing and, if warranted, a trial.

He remains confined to the main county jail in Ventura and is ineligible for release.
