BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — Twenty-six years after a man’s death in Boulder County, investigators are still trying to uncover who he was and how he died.

"On Nov. 11, 1993, human skeletal remains were found near Gregory Canyon in Boulder County. Investigators have not been able to identify the person since then.

An examination of the remains indicated that the person was a Caucasian male between the ages of 25 and 45 years old. He was between 5 feet, 3 inches and 5 feet, 8 inches tall and, at the time of his death, was wearing Levi blue jeans, a white shirt and white tennis shoes. He had shoulder-length dark blonde to light brown hair."

"His teeth were in poor condition and he may have anemic.

Based on chemical isotope testing, he may have been born in the southeastern United States and likely lived in southern Florida or central Texas. He did not appear to be a Colorado native."

"A hiker in Gregory Canyon discovered the partially skeletonized remains of a 30-45 year old man of White (European) ancestry. Unknown, he was buried in a John Doe grave until April 2018, when exhumed by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office and sent to IFAAS for analysis.
He had shoulder length, dark blonde - brown hair and was dressed in Levi blue jeans, a white shirt and white tennis shoes. The bridge of his nose was very prominent and likely appeared deviated to the left. He was approximately 5’5” to 5’8” tall. Chemical isotope analysis suggests he was born in the Southeastern U.S. and likely lived in southern Florida or Central Texas, but was not local to the Colorado area. His manner of death remains Unknown.

Thank you, Payroll! I don't think I had seen the shoe brand name.

"New technology is giving Boulder County investigators hope that they can solve a 25-year-old cold case by putting a name to a face and bringing closure for a man known since 1993 only as John Doe...

The University of South Florida’s body farm that specializes in studying what happens to a body after someone dies was enlisted to help.

Through testing, researchers were able to determine the man was born in the southeastern United States and was likely not a Colorado native. Testing showed he was of European ancestry and likely between 30 and 45 years of age.

The team was able to create a sketch of the man and a reconstruction of the man’s head.

“They’ve created these tangible, visible reconstruction that we can look at,” said Lampi. “And now he has a face. And that’s great. Like I said, maybe someone recognizes him.”

It’s Lampi’s hope that the sketch and bust can help her solve the crime "

My first impression of the uid is that he appeared to be French Canadian, but of course the more one looks, he could be of any heritage, imo.

Has anyone suggested Robert Vanzant yet? A bit far IMO but it's basically a straight shot on the highway from Oklahoma City to Boulder.

Maybe... But the shoe size is off. Height could work (there's overlap at 5'5") but shoe size seems like it would rule him out. UID was wearing size 8.5, while RV is said to have worn 6.5 - 7. Wonder if the ME could say whether the shoes on our UID seemed to have fit properly or not.

Anther thing is that RV wore glasses, and I don't think glasses were found with our UID (could have been lost, of course). And RV had a car, which was found at his home after he went missing from a house belonging to friends. Seems like if he was going to take off he'd use his car, at least for the initial part of the trip. But maybe he left with someone.

Anyway, none of those things are automatic rule-outs, IMO. I haven't searched up anything on RV yet; anyone know more about his background?

All MOO.

Jerry Woodard disappeared from about 15 hrs away in Texas. His physical descriptors, the clothes he was wearing and the fact that he's been diagnosed with Addison's disease make me wonder if these are his remains. I agree with @MadMcGoo about the reliability of isotope testing but in this case maybe they're correct.;) @meanmaryjean, can you please share with us any of your knowledge about relationships b/w Addison's and anemia? :) tia
