The skeletal remains of a woman’s body found near Moab, Utah, on Wednesday may have been a victim of a suspected Front Range serial killer, 42-year-old Scott Kimball, according to Grand County Sheriff James Nyland.
Nyland said Kimball, a suspect in at least four deaths, told authorities he could lead them to the remains of two women he had killed in rural Grand County.
Nyland said Thursday, after a couple days of searching, they believe they have discovered the remains of Leann C. Emry. Emry of Washington was 24 when she disappeared. Her vehicle was found Jan. 30, 2003, off the Harley Dome exit, about six miles west of the state line. (more at link)

This guy is a scary, narcissistic, sociopathic freak. I am shocked at what he got away with!

i'm even doubly shocked that woman married him even though she thought he was involved with her daughter being missing and after he suggested she send her other daughter to him to show her how he did it.

FBI investigators say they are 99 percent certain human remains found last month in Utah's Book Cliffs mountains are those of a Colorado woman missing since 2003.
Grand County Sheriff Jim Nyland says DNA tests identified the remains as Leann Emry, 24, of Centennial, Colo. (more at link)

Sure hope they can connect the dots and arrest this guy for murder soon! The FBI sounds like the messed up. They need to make it right!

PDF page 7, beginning with item 13 is creepy!

I obviously don't know everything that's going on in this case, but did they not investigate these disappearances? If they did, how did they not see that every victim was tied to this one man?!

DENVER, Colorado (CNN) -- Serving time for lesser crimes, Scott Kimball is leading investigators to bodies.

Scott Kimball is currently serving a 48-year sentence on theft and habitual criminal convictions.

Partly mummified bones thought to be those of his uncle, Terry Kimball, were discovered Monday in a remote Rocky Mountain pass near Vail, Colorado. DNA tests are pending to confirm the victim's identity, and the cause of death is pending a forensic examination, authorities said.

Terry Kimball is one of several suspected homicide victims associated with Scott Kimball since his jailing in 2008. He is serving a 48-year sentence in state prison in Fairplay, Colorado, on theft and habitual criminal convictions.

This is frightening to me. IMO, this guy is a complete sociopath. We can only hope he never gets out of prison.

Partly mummified bones thought to be those of his uncle, Terry Kimball, were discovered Monday in a remote Rocky Mountain pass near Vail, Colorado. DNA tests are pending to confirm the victim's identity, and the cause of death is pending a forensic examination, authorities said.

Sources with knowledge of the cases said Kimball's December 2008 plea to theft and habitual criminal charges, and the 48-year sentence, was part of a deal that included revealing the locations of the bodies. Authorities wanted to give victims' families resolution. Without his cooperation, authorities doubt they have enough evidence to convict him.
Earlier this year, Kimball revealed where the remains thought to be his uncle's were, according to law enforcement sources close to the case. However, the search was delayed until snow had melted.

So if I understand correctly, Jennifer Marcum is the last one that needs to be found?

A suspected serial killer who has been linked to four murders was charged Tuesday in connection to those murders.

Scott Kimball was charged with two counts of second-degree murder. Kimball, 42, has been under investigation by the FBI since last year in the disappearance of his 60-year-old uncle Terry Kimball, Jennifer Marcum, Kaycee McLeod and Leann Emrie.

Even though there are four victims, there are only two murder charges, as part of a plea agreement that required Kimball to lead authorities to the remains of his victims, according to the arrest affidavit

Thank you for the update SuziQ. This guy chills me to the bone! These charges should be more than enough to lock him away forever. Is there still another victim that needs to be found?

Yes, Jennifer Marcum. Scott said she was close to where Emry was found in Eastern Utah, but LE has not found her.

Oh my. I sure hope they don't give up - I'm sure her family is in agony.

A Boulder-born man who has been linked to four suspected murders -- including that of his uncle and his ex-wife's daughter -- was charged Tuesday with two counts of second-degree murder.

Scott Lee Kimball, who was already being held on lesser crimes at a state prison, will be prosecuted in Boulder County.

He was arrested Tuesday and brought to the Boulder County Jail, where he is being held in lieu of a $2 million bond. A hearing in his case is scheduled for Thursday afternoon in Boulder District Court.

This is such a small world. 6 degrees of Kevin Baconish-

When a picture of Robert J. Halderman — the man charged with attempting to extort $2 million from late-night talk show host David Letterman — appeared in the newspaper last weekend, Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett did a double-take.

“I picked up the paper and said to my wife – ‘This is the guy,'” Garnett said.

The guy, he said, who came to his office in the Boulder County Justice Center in late July to ask about the investigation into serial murder suspect Scott Kimball, who is scheduled to enter a plea to two counts of second-degree murder in Boulder County District Court Thursday.

Garnett said Halderman, a producer with the CBS television crime series “48 Hours Mystery,” met with him, an FBI agent, and two of his deputies for 90 minutes as part of an effort to learn details about the investigation for a future program on the case.

“He pushed us very hard to go on the record at the time and we refused to do that,” Garnett said. “We felt it would compromise the status of the investigation.”

I think he will be in jail forever. No chance this guy will ever see the light of day again. I hope he tells all knowing he will never get out of prison.
