It came from the East Mountain search-and-rescue group KOB Eyewitness News 4 introduced to the Redwine family.

It's nothing but ice, snow and sub-zero temperatures at Vallecito Lake - but K-9 Forensics says they are making some headway.

A hound picked up on a scent on the east side of the lake.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who was seen in the Vallecito area the day Dylan Redwine was reported missing.

The man, who is not considered a suspect, was reportedly in the area looking for rental properties, said Dan Bender, spokesman for the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.

“(He) is not a person of interest or anything like that,” Bender said. “It’s just a person who was in the area that we haven’t talked to.”

The man is described as Hispanic, between 45 and 50 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds, with dark hair.

The show “has made me much more confident that Mark had something to do with it,” Cory said.
“It was one of the first times that I have gotten to speak and let him know how I feel,” he said.
But his suspicion’s also come from personal experience. He said that Mark kept him and Dylan from their mother, Elaine Redwine, twice. He and Dylan were kept in a cabin “for a week and a half and he kept us up there without any contact.”

“It was scary and you are afraid and angry,” he said.

A postal worker possibly saw the boy Monday on County Road 501, near Vallecito, and two rescue workers may have seen the boy Tuesday afternoon, said Dan Bender, spokesman with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office. Both sightings are unconfirmed, and, in both cases, the boy ran from rescue workers up a hill in the Vallecito area, Bender said. “We’re assuming at this point – it may be Dylan – eluded searchers,” he said. “We’re leaning toward his being a runaway.”

Two rescue workers said they possibly saw him on separate occasions Tuesday afternoon, but he fled into the forest. Bender said Wednesday one of the sightings turned out to be a jogger; the second may have been the same jogger or Dylan.

News Release: LPCSO Update on Investigation of Disappearance of Dylan Redwine
Date/ Time: 4:00PM MST Tuesday March 19th 2013
Source: Dan Bender, PIO La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Durango, Colorado

Narrative:
According to the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, on November 19, 2012, the day Dylan Redwine was reported missing, there was a reported sighting by a local postal worker indicating that Dylan was seen walking with another boy in Vallecito at about 2:00 PM. Investigators have identified and contacted these two young people and determined they have no connection to Dylan’s disappearance. Investigators continue to investigate reported sightings in Colorado and other states, but to date, none have been confirmed.

In February, investigators asked the public to help identify a man who was seen in Vallecito looking for gas on the day Dylan was reported missing. Investigators were able to identify and contact the man. He has not been linked to Dylan’s disappearance and was in the area on legitimate business.

Dylan was reported missing on Monday, November 19, 2012, when Dylan’s mother, Elaine Redwine, contacted the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office at about 5:30 PM to report that Dylan was missing from his father’s home in Vallecito. Mark Redwine, Dylan’s father, had previously contacted the Bayfield Marshal’s Office on the 19th attempting to learn if they had seen Dylan, and he then contacted Elaine asking if she had heard from Dylan.

Elaine Redwine, Dylan’s brother Cory Redwine, and Elaine’s fiancé Mike Hall remained in the Colorado Springs area when Dylan flew to Durango by himself on November 18th for a Court ordered visit with Mark Redwine for the Thanksgiving holiday. Elaine, Cory and Mike were still in the Colorado Springs area when Mark sent the message to Elaine the following afternoon asking about Dylan. Shortly after receiving Mark’s inquiry, Elaine, Cory and Mike traveled to Durango.

Investigators learned that Mark met Dylan at the Durango-La Plata County Airport at about 5:45 PM Sunday, November 18th. Investigators confirmed that Dylan arrived at Mark’s home on Sunday at about 8:00 PM after stops at Wal-Mart and McDonald’s in Durango.
[SEE PAGE TWO]

[PAGE TWO] LPCSO Update on Investigation of Disappearance of Dylan Redwine

Investigators learned that Mark has said he last saw Dylan at around 7:30 AM Monday, November 19, 2012 at his home in Vallecito when Mark left for Durango to run errands. Investigators have also learned Mark returned home at about 11:30 AM and discovered that Dylan was gone.

Mark’s and Dylan’s interactions and activities within the community on November 18th and 19th, as well as tips related to persons, locations and sightings remain under investigation.

Investigators are reviewing recent information including tips, interviews, and reports generated since last November, seeking links that may be helpful as they plan and conduct future searches and interviews, and determine additional evidence analysis needs.

Investigators continue to seek information and evidence from the public to determine whether something happened to Dylan at the home or whether he somehow left the home and something happened to him away from the home.

Investigators are asking for information from anyone who may have been at their Vallecito homes or traveling in Vallecito on CR 500 or CR 501 between 7:00 PM Sunday, November 18th and 7:00 PM on Monday, November 19th.

If citizens feel they saw or heard any activity during this time frame that was not normal for their neighborhood they are asked to call the local Dylan Tip Line (970-382-7511) to leave a message and contact information. The Dylan Tip Line is checked frequently by Investigators.

Anonymous tips can be left with Durango-La Plata Crime Stoppers (970-247-1112). Persons can also call the hotline for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE LOST (1-800-843-5678). A reward for finding Dylan is in excess of $50,000.00.

Approximately 310 people took part Saturday in a search that covered 60 linear miles in an attempt to find clues related to 13 year old Dylan Redwine who has been missing since November 19th.

Saturday’s primary search area was several miles on either side of La Plata County Road 240 also known as Florida Road (Flow-REED-duh) as well as side roads and other locations in the area. Busses and drivers were provided by the Bayfield School District. Dylan was a student in Bayfield before moving to Colorado Springs.

Of dozens of items flagged by searchers,10 were collected by law enforcement investigators for future reference.
All searchers were safely out of the field by 4:00PM.

A task force of five local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies continues to investigate and follow-up on
information from the public in their effort to find Dylan Redwine.

The Redwine family expressed their thanks to all the people who took part in Saturday’s search and thank everyone who has supported them and continue to support them in this very difficult time.

News Release: Redwine Investigation Continues
Date: Feb 11th 2013
Source: Dan Bender, LPCSO PIO La Plata County Sheriff’s Office
742 Turner Drive
Durango, Colorado 81303

La Plata County Sheriff’s Office stated Monday that the investigation into the disappearance of Dylan Redwine on November 19th is continuing. While the volume of tips has dropped, information does continue to come in from the public and is followed up by Task Force Investigators. Over this past weekend Investigators interviewed someone who remembered seeing a man in the north end of Vallecito the day Dylan was reported missing. According to the person interviewed, they were contacted by a man who asked where he could find gasoline for his vehicle. The man was described as Hispanic, between 45 and 50 years old, about 5feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds, with dark hair. The man said he was looking at rental properties. The person interviewed did not have a description of the vehicle. La Plata County Sheriff’s Office is hoping the man might be a potential witness and not realize it. Anyone matching this description who was in the Vallecito area on November 18th or 19th is asked to contact La Plata Sheriff’s Office. Task Force Investigators will not identify the person they interviewed over the weekend and will not say where the interview took place.
They did say the interview was a direct result of information left on the tip line.

“If anyone feels they may have seen something unusual in Vallecito before or soon after Dylan was reported missing, we encourage them, including the man looking for rentals that day, to contact the Sheriff’s Office”. La Plata S.O. PIO Dan Bender said. “They may not feel what they saw has any connection to Dylan’s disappearance. But we would like to hear from them and let Law Enforcement decide if it might be important.” Bender said.

The reward for information leading to finding Dylan is well over $50,000.00. That includes rewards through Crime Stoppers, the FBI, and donations from private citizens and groups.

Anyone who may have information on Dylan’s whereabouts is asked to contact La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Investigators Dan Patterson (970-382-7015) or Tom Cowing (970-382-7045).
