It is an editorial or opinion piece so no court dates or anything. Just expressing frustration that Nubia will never have her day in court. Thus forcing her abusers to not see her beautiful face, hear from the teachers who reported as they should, here from the G.A.L. who recommended family over these heathens and other failures by FL to advocate for the children in the home.

Jorge Barahona, her adoptive father and accused murderer, is successfully escaping trial.

Because Barahona is already held in a Miami-Dade County jail, there is an argument that a trial is a moot issue. As long as a jury does not get an opportunity to decide otherwise, he will remain behind bars until he dies.

Yes quite the tragedy...

Jorge's trial was supposed to start on 3/16/23, but the court site gave no explanation of WHY it was vacated/cancelled. He does have a status hearing on 4/21 as does Carmen.
And Carmen's case - she DID plead guilty on 2/21/20 (per my notes), but she has had the same hearing dates as Jorge - so not sure "what" is going on with her case....

Palm Beach, found Feb. 14, 2011 soaked with chemicals in the back of her father’s truck alongside Interstate 95 in Palm Beach County), (Victor (10) injured; had acid thrown on him; he was released from hospital 3/2/11) – *Carmen V. Barahona (60/now 72) “adopted mom” arrested (2/12/11), charged (3/7/11) & indicted & arraigned (3/24/11) with 1st degree murder & 14 counts of aggravated child neglect/abuse. Plead not guilty. $1M bond. DA will seek DP.
Plead guilty to 1st degree murder & aggravated child abuse on 2/21/20. Plea deal gives her a life prison sentence in exchange for testimony against her husband. Sentencing will be after she testifies against her husband as agreed.
Trial was set to begin on 3/16/23 continued with no further dates.

But what I don't get is - Carmen plead guilty - from my notes:

Plead guilty to 1st degree murder & aggravated child abuse on 2/21/20. Plea deal gives her a life prison sentence in exchange for testimony against her husband. Sentencing will be after she testifies against her husband as agreed.

You would think she would not have any court dates.

She’s what 70+ now? He’s hoping to outlive her, then she can’t testify against him. JMO
