Winston’s relatives told the news outlet that the leasing office at Winston’s apartment claimed someone cleaned out her unit after her disappearance. Additionally, a family member said they found a bag — containing bleach and a pair of shoes — behind her apartment building.

Winston’s 4-year-old daughter reportedly lives with her father, and family members said she had a bad relationship with him. WSB-TV reported that the father was recently arrested for stealing almost $8,000 in money orders from a business. However, authorities have not disclosed whether this is related to Winston’s disappearance.

Winston’s cousin said, “She has a daughter that she would never leave.”

According to posts on social media, Winston is 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs approximately 218 pounds. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call Detective J. Bryson at 678-610-4713.

Edwards was taken to the Clayton County Jail where he is being held on aggravated stalking charges from a different case.

Phillips-Edwards was arrested for false statements, but was later released on bond.

When asked whether the false statements were in regard to Winston's disappearance, police said they could not confirm that information.

In an updated statement, Clayton County Police Department wrote, “They believe she was the victim of a crime that left her incapacitated in some way.

Detectives named two people of interest in the case: the father of Winston’s child, Michael Edwards, and his wife, Brienna Phillips-Edwards.

Jail records say police arrested Edwards April 8. His charge is listed as aggravated stalking.

Channel 2′s Tom Jones was in Union City Wednesday, where he learned that Brienna Phillips-Edwards, 21, was arrested on a felony false statement charge. According to the warrant, she gave false information to police and tried to provide her husband with an alibi as officers questioned her about Winston’s disappearance.

Phillips-Edwards worked for Union City Police and planned on becoming an officer.

Winston’s cousin couldn’t believe it when Jones told her about Phillips-Edwards’ ties to the police.

“I’m speechless at this news,” Jasmine Walker said. “This is honestly disturbing.”

The boyfriend of a missing 23-year-old woman from Clayton County has been charged with malice murder and aggravated stalking in connection to her disappearance.

The live-in boyfriend of a missing 23-year-old woman from Clayton County has been charged with malice murder and aggravated stalking in connection to her disappearance.

... According to charges read during a court appearance on Friday, Michale Edwards, also 23, choked her to death during an argument and put her body into a suitcase.

He then allegedly drove to Gates, Tennessee, with an unidentified co-defendant. The two put the suitcase in a barrel and set it on fire using gasoline and lighter fluid, according to the court.

Clayton mother was killed, stuffed in suitcase, burned, family says

Nearly two months after a Clayton County mother was last seen alive, her family has learned what investigators believe happened to her.
