Apparently, court has started, however, we have a problem with the pool feed. There is a movie being filmed in the courthouse after hours (welcome to Atlanta) And somehow our media setup for this trial got messed up. (that's my fancy tech talk). They are working on it on the ground.

YoungThug Trial: Day 64 Half-day. Investigator Gaither back on the stand to testify about her years of investigating YSL. She a "gang expert" who specifically was involved with investigating Yak Gotti and SB, as well as YSL as a whole.

Right now, Gaither is testifying to the timeline of the creation of YSL, and the timeline of the beef between YSL and ABG/Birdgang (she says it started in 2014).She says a lot of the YSL members, such as SB and Woody, were 30 Deep members before they were YSL.


They're starting to get into the murder at the center of this whole caseThe 2015 murder of Donovan Thomas aka Nut, who was the #4 ranked Blood leader in Georgia, according to the State. YSL is accused of killing him, and Young is accused of renting the car used.
 
Judge Glanville is on the bench. Attorneys are going through a video interview and determining if two things in an interview with Walter Murphy will be taken out.


Attorneys are now arguing about the fact former Inv. Gaither was voir dire and qualified as an expert in the presence of the jury.


Glanville allowed the state to conduct a Daubert hearing in front of the jury, to qualify Gaither as an expert. "I can't find another case a Daubert hearing was held in front of the jury. I cannot find it," Young 's attorney Brian Steel said.


Steel is moving to strike Gaither's testimony from last week because he claims it is "repetitive, cumulative and prejudicial".Steel said he went back and looked at the streams from last week where Gaither testify to hear what she said.


The state said they plan to call three more experts for trial and have already had Daubert hearings on all three of them.


Glanville warned some of the testimony is becoming repetitive."From the court's perspective, I've heard multiple people say essentially the same stuff over again...but it comes to a point it will draw a cumulative repetitive objection that could be sustained by the court.”


The jury is being brought in to continue with Gaither’s testimony.

In the blue car was: Driver - Cornelius Davis, Passengers - Dexter Montgomery, Deangelo White and Christian James. Dexter Montgomery was shot in the head and survived. He testified last week. They showed a photo of a good portion of the side of his head missing. This is on the indictment as overt acts 30-36. Walter Murphy spent prison time for this shooting.

ATLANTA — The trial involving rapper Young and the alleged YSL street gang continues Monday as attorneys have been arguing over what evidence might be admissible, and the jury has heard testimony about an alleged 2015 shooting incident.

It is also possible the court may begin to address the shooting of Lil Wayne's tour bus in Cobb County in 2015.

The state is now using interviews Deangelo White had with investigators after the shooting.White refused to answer any of the prosecutors' questions while on the stand.

The state is playing a July 2015 interview investigators had with Walter Murphy. It’s hard to listen and make out exactly what is being said, which could be the case for the jury as well.Prosecutors have been focused on the April 2015 shooting incident for days now.

Day 66 of trial starts with Former Inv. Gaither is still on the stand as video of a 2015 interview investigators had with Walter Murphy is still being played.


Attorneys are arguing about whether or not Gaither should be telling the jurors what is on the tape and what Murphy is saying on the tape. Defense attorneys are arguing the jurors should be able to hear the tape and make that determination themselves.


Glanville has ruled that Gaither can't testify about that part of the video but the jury can hear it and make their own determination. "I'm not going to let (Gaither) comment about what her understanding is to what was said in that particular part of the tape," he said.


Chief Deputy DA Love is now trying to play the part of the video again but Glanville is asking why she wants to play it again if the jury already heard it.
