''Almost 50 years ago, the then 15-year-old Elke Kerll from Nienburg on the Weser disappeared without a trace - is there now a hot lead? The ZDF program "Aktenzeichen XY" took up the case on Wednesday and, according to the public prosecutor's office in Verden, 14 clues were received by the investigators by Thursday. Elke Kerll wanted to hitchhike to work​

Later, the group continued partying at the Scandia club. "From there she went, accompanied by a friend and her boyfriend, to an acquaintance's apartment on Am Riedekamp street in Holtorf-Nienburg, where she wanted to spend the night," said a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office. Witnesses reported that Elke Kerll left the apartment early on Sunday morning. She wanted to hitchhike to her job, a children's home in Loccum. She was never seen again.''

In dem Fall um den mutmaßlichen Mord von Elke Kerll hat die Polizei nun mehr Details zu ihren Ermittlungen gegen die fünf Verdächtigen bekanntgegeben. Im Jahr 1969 verschwand die damals 15-Jährige aus Nienburg.

A spokesman said on Thursday that the five suspects were between 71 and 75 years old. Four of the men are also said to have met with Elke Kerll in an apartment at the time of her disappearance. According to a tip-off, the fifth man was also the focus of the investigation because of "temporal and local contexts". In April, the public prosecutor's office announced thatit was investigating five suspects for murder. The public prosecutor's office assumes that Elke Kerll was the victim of a sex crime. Since then, all traces of her have been lost. A few days later, a necklace was found in the Schauburg discotheque that belonged to Elke Kerll and that she may have worn at the time of the crime.

Elke Kerll was last seen wearing a green wool coat, green trousers and black shoes with red stripes.

Due to the overall circumstances, there is a suspicion that Elke Kerll has been the victim of a sex crime.
The police and the public prosecutor's office address the following questions to the population:

• Who had - possibly only loose - contact with Elke Kerll in 1969?
• In 1969, who had connections to the Kortendiek dormitory in Loccum where Elke Kerll worked?
• Who was a regular visitor to the Schauburg discotheque in 1969 and had contact with Elke Kerll there?
• Who saw Elke Kerll on the weekend of 13./14.12.1969?
• Who can provide information on how Elke Kerll's necklace found in the Schauburg discotheque got there?
• Who hitchhiked in 1969 in the vicinity of Loccum/Nienburg and made bad experiences or conspicuous observations?
