Circumstances of Disappearance:
Stempfle disappeared after leaving her school in Augsburg, Germany on January 27, 1966. She was last seen by a classmate getting off a train at approximately 2:00 pm at the station in Mertingen. She was routinely picked up by her stepfather to be driven the remaining distance to their home in Oberndorf, but he was delayed 15 minutes due to work. When he arrived, she was nowhere to be found.

Despite extensive searches with the aid of sniffing dogs and helicopters, Stempfle was never located. Officials suspect that she left the train station on foot to walk the 4 kilometres to Oberndorf and met with foul play. Her whereabouts remain unknown.

Her family did everything they could to try to find her. What a tragic case. In this article from 2016, her mother was 95-years-old.
