LA LA - Port Allen, WhtFem 24-33, UP1872, under rock pile, long, dark brown hair, jewelry, Feb'85

Alma Louise O'Con is my 2nd cousin. Is there reason to still believe this is possibly her? My mother & grandfather have been missing her for more than 35 yrs. It's still a painful topic for them. Here is a clearer picture of her, this would have been about 6-7 years before her disappearance.

Any thoughts??
Thanks in advance!

Welcome, Lucynethel
Both the unidentified remains and your 2nd cousin have dental records available, according to NamUs.
If both sets of records are in the NCIC database, then Alma would have automatically compared to this case and ruled out or matched. There is only one way to find out for sure, and that would be to contact the NamUs case manager, tell them you are a family member are and ask if she's been ruled out, if you haven't already.
Also, I noticed that Alma's DNA profile is stating "initial inquiry underway". Do you know anything about that or how long it's been in that status? Getting that submitted and updated will help compare to other UP cases as well.
Here are the links to Alma's and the Jane Doe's NamUs cases. Please contact them and ask, their email addresses and phone numbers are listed in the contact section:

Good luck! Thank you for posting such a lovely picture of your cousin.

Lucynethel, were you able to connect with NAMUS or LSU faces

Circumstances:
On the early evening hours of February 20th, 1985 (4:45 pm) a rabbit hunter found skeletal remains behind the Mississippi River levee, ½ mile south of the Mississippi River bridges. The skeleton had no clothing or even fibers were found only costume jewelry (1) bracelet on the left arm and (4) rings. The body had been covered very carefully with revetment limestone rocks (20lbs ea) from the levee area. The skeletal remains were examined, the woman had deformation of the upper left ribs and bifurcated right rib that may have been the result of a birth defect. She was very likely middle class due to her bones being healthy and has good dental care. In all after the examination a cause of death was not determined.

By June 1985 LE followed up on several leads however all resulted into dead ends. LE contacted Washington State authorities as that there were some similarities between the woman found and the Green River killer victims. The unidentified woman was in the same age bracket and some of the bodies found in Washington were buried under stones. At the time Washington authorities were still trying to locate (15) other women reported missing.

This is a funny one. I found Babette Phillips no longer on the list, but they added MP1582 Babette Alberti 10/20/1983 St. Charles LA

When I went to the missing persons page, it turns out they're the same person. Phillips is apparently the alias.
