I'm originally from N.O. This is perplexing. But has anyone looked at that refinery? So much dangerous equipment near the tanks, and also, the ditches used to be overgrown with water hyacinths, the amount of vegetation is unreal sometimes in that part of the country. I am thinking along two lines, (1) hitched a ride, amnesia or injury from the wreck is keeping him from seeking help, or (2) sadly, walked away and passed from his injuries.

how bad was the accident? could it have shook him enough to give him a head injury?
I wish i had more info.

so so sad. praying for his safe return and for his family.

The car rolled over so I think there could be a severe head injury.

The family website: http://www.helpfindshanefell.com/ on the facebook link has reported that they are fairly certain he didn't walk or fall into the river.

I can't understand how they can be so sure he didn't go into the river? It is so close!

The dogs went out four days after Shane went missing. By then, it had rained and the grass was mowed. The dogs were unsuccessful in finding anything.

From the website:

Wow.. where could Shane be?! I hope he's ok!

the only news really is that the family is asking for donations to hire a private investigator.

This case reminds me of others... only including the younger men.
The two that immediately come to mind that I've been following.

May 14, 2008 - Brandon Swanson - Minnesota - Still missing
Disappears after driving car into ditch, calling his parents and talking to them for a length of time.
Car was found in an area away from where he thought he was.

May 8, 2011 - Joseph Bushling - American Soldier - Utah - Still Missing
Disappears after leaving a message for a friend that he ran out of gas.
Car was eventually found in an area different from where he thought he was.

Obviously there is not a connection... I just find it odd that this happens so frequently. They leave the car and just vanish...
Steven Koecher... Ray Gricar... there have been women too...
