MA MA - Vicke Lamberton, 24, Worcester, 12 Feb 1974

Bob....what was barker's age at the time of Vickie's disappearance? is he alive now? if so, do you know where he is?

One other thing to support the way I believe is the statement
that Vicke's best friend Anne told me.
Vicke called Anne that night before the disappearance and told
her that the next day she was eloping with Dr. Barker.
This would make me think Barker had told Vicke he was leaving his wife but
latter changed his mind.
I don't know for a fact that his wife even went to Colorado.
I do know she was at Assumption the following Monday and had left the
message Barker had caught pneumonia in Colorado and wouldn't be back for two weeks.

I saw him only once but my guess would be around 38-40 in 1974.
I read he is still living but I don't know where.

they were eloping? kinda hard to do when he's already married, isn't it?

is it possible that vickie didn't know he had a wife?

I think eloping was a bad choice of words.
She knew he was married.
I think wat she was trying to say was that they were
going to run off together.

I believe Dr. Barker had gotten his PhD at Columbia and maybe Vicke and Barker had discussed his getting a teaching position there while she worked
on her PhD.
This would be a fresh start for both of them.

so it's complete bs that he vaguely remembers her as being a student. i call that a "red flag."

such a shame this was not investigated better when it was "hot."

for instance, where did he stay in Colorado that weekend?
Was he really in the hospital for 2 weeks (this one might still be verified)?
How did they travel to get there?
Did the wife really go as well?

current questions...

is anyone in Law enforcement working on her case or is it officially closed?
Do you have a contact in the police dept that you can prod to look at it again?
If not, i'd go make a friend there and try to get them to talk to the Barkers again. I know from watching cold case files, detectives will sometimes watch couples who are suspects in crime for a break-up. Seems they are ready to do some backstabbing at that point. If the Barkers did divorce, she may talk.

I've reread the thread and think a post above is plausible - the wife decided to go for the weekend and this caused problems.

No one ever reported her missing.
In 1995 I decided to file a missing persons report at the Worcester
Police Department.
The detectives questions me and and I told them
everything I knew.
They said the case was too cold and refused to file the report.

One thing that makes this case very difficult to figure out is
that when Vicke separated from her husband she wouldn't
let anyone know where she was living except for Dr. Barker.
Maybe this was his idea.
So when she never called after the time of disapperance,
we didn't know where to start looking.
She had been living apart for several weeks.
She had no job and she didn't have a car.
There was no way to look for her except by questioning all her
friends which we did and no one knew anything.
This is a very dangerous position for a person to be in.
She should have let at least one other person know her whereabouts
for safety.

Bob thank you for posting. I saw the post from Patty & was very skeptical so I did not bother to respond. I'm sorry after all these years you still don't have answers. I wish I could help more.

Bob, I have a number for James Barker, whom I think is related to Roger. I have his number if you want it. I think you should call him and get a number or location for Barker's ex-wife Louann to speak with her.

Also, Barker and his e-wife Louann had a daughter, Jennifer Lee, born 8/17/1972.

I've email you but you did not respond. Have you tried to email me?

I also found a Roger Barker online whose signature is somewhat like our Roger Barker's signature. He's a principal at a school. I have all the information and a pic if you want it for comparison.

Maybe Dr. Barker was vauge b/c he helped her start a new life and Vickie asked him to be discreet. Her sister in law mentioned her homelife was not good. mAybe in this case he is innocent and she wanted to get away, but it sounds liker her siblings loved her and her SIl sounds like she had a good relationship with Vickie, you would think after all this time she would contact them.

It would be interesting to verify if the prof really was hospitalized for pneumonia in CO or if he made that up to explain for his 2-week absence. There was no missing person report filed at the time so it's unclear if LE ever investigated this man.

She has another thread on here where a family member had posted and given some info.
