MI MI - Curtis Twp, WhtFem 30-50, UP8371, many healed fractures, gap b/w upper front teeth, Oct'94

I submitted a while back and they said they would review it...but never heard back from them.

there are now a whopping three rule outs at Namus but not Kerry Krueger:

Frances Kiefer 1949 Pennsylvania
Patricia Schmidt 1964 Virginia
Rose West 1944 Kentucky

I have been researching a missing person case that is very close to my heart, and tonight I am wondering if I have stumbled onto something. I'm still fairly new at this, so would really appreciate some opinions. Do I have a possible match here?

Unidentified Jane Doe - Doe Network

Kerry O'Brien Krueger - Charley Project

I contacted Trooper Sarah Krebs of the Michigan State police regarding another matter, but while I had her on the phone, I asked about whether or not Kerry Krueger had been ruled out against the 1994 Curtis Township Jane Doe.

She just replied by e-mail:

Carl-the case is going to be compared via DNA. The Curtis Twp Jane Doe is at Michigan State University and the NamUs Administrator has sent a note to the OIC in Racine, WI ref. your tip.

Sarah

Was there any conclusion drawn from DNA testing? I can't tell if I hope it rules out Kerry, or if the closure from knowing where she is would be better. Thanks -

Is it possible that someone could've taken Kerry's body in the trunk of a car, onto the car ferry at Manitowoc, crossed the lake, driven to Alcono County, then re-crossed the lake with their car? I'm just throwing it out there. I know the car ferries stopped in 1990 or 1992, and had multiple departure/arrival points up and down the coasts of Wisconsin and Michigan.

Have you heard anything back Carl?

Bumping this up - hoping someone has heard conclusively as to the ID of the woman found in Alcona County, MI. Any word?

just stumbled upon this thread. i wish there was some way that people on this end of the search could help move things along. i saw 3 reasonable matches suggested and submitted here in the last 5 years and none of them have been ruled out. this woman needs a name and a family somewhere needs closure.

Thank you for posting the latest facial reconstruction drawing.

Michigan State Police release new 3D facial reconstruction in 23-year-old case

Back in October of 1994, a hunter found skeletal remains of a woman in Alcona County, south of Alpena.

Now, police are releasing new FBI 3D facial reconstruction images in hopes of solving the cold case.

"It's a fresh look. It's another set of eyes that have seen the case," says MSP Det. Sgt. Sarah Krebs.

Investigators say she's a white woman, who was between 30 and 50-years-old. She had a gap between her two front teeth.

Her body had been there 1 to 4 years before being discovered.

NAMUS now shows 7 ruled out but still no mention of Krueger:

Frances Kiefer 1949 Pennsylvania
Patricia Schmidt 1964 Virginia
Rose West 1944 Kentucky
Janet Clark 1955 Michigan
Hazel Klug 1962 Virginia
Colleen Voitik Mc Hugh 1963 Illinois
Theresa Wallace 1956 Illinois

Thanks for sharing this reconstruction Gardener1850!

It is a bit surprising that they haven't depicted the rather prominent gap between her front teeth - surely it would assist people who may have known the victim while she was alive to recognise her.

I want to add the following missing person (Belinda Frances Norred) as a potential match to the unidentified female for the following reasons:

-Both the missing and the unidentified are described exactly as having a "distinctive gap" on their front teeth.

-The unidentified is described as having blonde or light brown hair, and the missing described as having blonde/dirty blonde hair.

-The missing had shoulder length hair, and the unidentified's reconstructed images appear to be shoulder length (assuming the hair length is accurate).

-Age aligns.

-Cases are in the same time frame.

-Estimated height is close, however, the missing is described as being 1 inch taller.

-The missing has a surgical scar on her neck, and the unidentified "upper vertebrae and one lower vertebrae were collapsed" which occurred prior to her death. Although, I'm not sure if surgery would have taken place on the neck..

The only difficult detail is that the unidentified was found ~700+ miles from the last location of the missing but it's important to note that the unidentified was found nude without any possessions which appears to be an attempt to keep her from being identified.

NAMUS is reviewing the two cases above. It's a long shot but distance should not keep a family from finding their loved ones.

(WJBK) - Authorities in Michigan are asking for the public's help identifying human remains found in northern Michigan 23 years ago.

The remains were found in October 1994 by a bow hunter in a wooded area off Bamfield Road, between Curtisville and Alcona Dam, in Alcona County.

Michigan State University anthropologists have determined the remains are that of a female 30-50 years old and approximately 4' 7" to 5' 6" tall. The woman was likely of European ancestry, but authorities say no population group should be excluded.

Evidence of a fracture to the skull indicates she may have experienced some type of trauma at or around the time of her death. The remains may have been in the wooded area for up to four years before being discovered.

Forensic artists have put together several renderings in hopes they prompt tips from the public.

The case has been posted on the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) database.

If you believe you have information on this case, you're asked to call the Alcona County Sheriff's Department at 989-724-6271. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP where you will remain anonymous.

Authorities say evidence of a skull fracture indicates the unidentified woman may have experienced trauma at or near her time of death.

Michigan State University anthropologists say the woman was likely 30 to 50 years old, and approximately 4 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall.
