Prosecutors say they’re dismissing all criminal charges against eight people in the Flint water scandal and starting the investigation over again.

Nessel: New evidence, political plea deals prompt restart of Flint probe

Attorney General Dana Nessel cited new evidence, drawn-out preliminary examinations, plush plea deals and the political timing of charges in the Flint water crisis investigation for prompting a new review that required the dismissal of all criminal cases.

In a Friday interview with WDET, Nessel said she was suspicious of the criminal charges prior to taking office in January and wanted her team to ensure no one was made “political scapegoats” in Republican former Attorney General Bill Schuette’s failed bid for governor last year...

DETROIT – An explosive report published by VICE accuses former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder of covering up and lying about the Flint water crisis.

The report by journalists Jordan Chariton and Jenn Dize was published on Thursday after an 18-month investigation.

“Hundreds of confidential pages of documents obtained by VICE, along with emails and interviews, reveal a coordinated, five-year cover-up overseen by Snyder and his top officials to prevent news of Flint’s deadly water from going public—while there was still time to save lives—and then limit the damage after the crisis made global headlines,” the report states...

Flint prosecutors: Six-year anniversary won't stop pursuit of justice

The prosecutors in the Flint water crisis investigation promised Friday that criminal charges are still coming in the long-stalled probe and that the criminal statute of limitations and the coronavirus pandemic will not stop them.

In a joint statement by Michigan Solicitor General Fadwa Hammoud and Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, they said the people of Flint are going to get justice.

Hammoud and Worthy said more than a week ahead of the six-year anniversary of the water source switch in Flint that they wanted to "correct the misconception that April 25, 2020 is the deadline to bring charges against those who may be criminally liable" to allay concerns among the public that the case is over...

Not going to lie, this is disappointing. It doesn't feel like justice. Its been 6 years and the problem still isnt totally fixed. Not a single person involved in the decision making is being held accountable. It feels like a payment to make everyone be quiet and forget it ever happened. Children were poisoned, this just isnt enough
