The body of a partially decomposed white woman discovered Sunday near the end of Thomas Humphrey Road Sunday remains unidentified.
Investigators from the Onslow County Sheriffs Office scoured the overgrown area Sunday afternoon for forensic evidence and clues where the corpse was recovered but have revealed little details into the cause of death or the circumstances under which the woman ended up on Thomas Humphrey Road.
The OCSO was alerted to the body around 3:20 p.m. in an overgrown area off Thomas Humphrey Road by teenagers, according to a press release sent by Maj. Chris Thomas.
