The abuse was revealed by the 6-year-old sister of the girl who died, NBC affiliate KOB reported. She said that one of the adults would tie the 3-year-old's hands and ankles with shoelaces and that neighbors would molest her, her 3-year-old sister and their 6-month-old sibling while their mother was present.

I wonder if these traveling monsters brought their prey to New Mexico thinking the state would turn a blind eye to their activities. New Mexico government programs are a far cry from the superior welfare services in Massachusetts. IMO

i dont imagine they were organized enough to research that... i think they just fled jurisdictions since she was known in MA and thought they wouldnt get caught.

Like @Niner, I have been wondering about James Welsh (48), the Albuquerque resident the group stayed with. News reports state that all four suspects will remain in custody until trial. However, I am suspicious Welch may have been released on his own recognizance because he's local and possibly has no record. I am rereading the news reports to see if there is anything I missed. Thank you for that info! I could not see that 1st article posted (#53) - not available in my region. Went & looked at Welch's court documents. It does not really say anything about him released, but I will take your word for it! Again thanks!

1/16/24 Update: A forensic interview was conducted on the older sibling of the deceased child & detectives learned that two other adults, Christina Hopkins Pena-Cantor & her son, Austin Bing, drove with Santos & her three children to Albuquerque. Detectives also discovered the children, including the 3-year-old girl, were sexually molested. Detectives learned of allegations that one of the adults would tie the 3-year-old girl at the ankles & wrists with shoe laces. Santos allegedly told detectives that Pena-Cantor ordered her son, Bing, to tie down the girl on the bed on Friday. After arguing with Pena-Cantor and Bing, Santos eventually took the girl to the hospital, the affidavit reportedly said. Santos was going to lie about what happened but later allegedly admitted the injuries happened at Welch’s home. Detention hearing on 1/19/24.

The older sister who was subject to the safe house interview, she detailed that the child had been tied up & she demonstrated this with a doll. She demonstrated that her ankles had been tied together & that she’d been tied to the corner of the bed,” said a state prosecutor in court Friday. The child also said she & her siblings were frequently groped by adults & that her mom just stood & watched, according to police. The judge ruled Welch would be released ahead of a possible trial. The same judge ruled Santos would stay in jail because Santos is not from New Mexico & has no residence here. Austin Bing was also in court, but his hearing was rescheduled until next week. Bing & his mother Christina Hopkins Pena-Cantor were in the car driving to Albuquerque with Santos & her kids, according to police.
