Does anyone know any admin of the doe network here at Websleuths? I really want Cheryl Yvonne Davis to be added to the doe network.

I wonder if deceased serial killer Larry Gene Bell May have been responsible for Cheryl going missing she was a pretty blond and on May 31st 1985 he abducted 17 year old Shari Smith at gunpoint as she was getting the mail from her home in Lexington SC after coming back from a graduation pool party Bell killed her by suffocation and she was found behind an old church building.

Two weeks later on June 14th he abducted nine year old Debra May Helmick from her front yard near her family's trailer on Old Percival Road in Richland County, 24 miles from the Smith home. He killed her, and again called the Smith family after midnight on June 23, to tell them where he had left Helmick's body just off a dirt road, amongst thick brush.Debra was also suffocated to death with duct tape around her face.

I wonder where Bell was on July 4th 1979? This of course is just a guest given that Cheryl would seem like the kind of person Bell would try to abduct. I hope she is found soon

As of September 2022 my family (Davis) still does not know where or what happened to my Aunt Cheryl. My Grandma suffered everyday until she died without her daughter and not knowing. I will never give up hope that we will find some closure for her siblings. My mom has forever been affected by her disappearance and she is now 63. Thank you everybody who has and continues to think, care and share about Cheryl.

I grew up with Barbara Carl and Cheryl. I think about her a lot and I wonder also about the report of the person being put in the woods when they were surfing they never told anything of it and what about the person that told them that she was supposedly there. Her and another girl I know have been missing for years and it seems like they just forget about them. You would think that the person the snitch that told him that's where her body was would give them information as to how he knew that or you know it doesn't make any sense

This is a purged medical examiner case from South Carolina. The ME gave it to an anthropologist in 1992. Upon retirement, the anthropologist gave it to the county of origin, which was Chaleston County. We do not have any law enforcement or autopsy information or the anthropological report, so we therefore do not know when the ME originally got the case, date or year of death, or the original condition to estimate postmortem interval.

There are dentals and DNA is submitted according to the Doe Network file.

For the record; they updated the Namus file for this Jane Doe. Even have a recon. It can not be Cheryl Davis because she was found in 1973 and Cheryl went missing in 1979.

Police scour West Ashley woods for clues to 26-year-old cold case
Jailhouse informant said missing woman's remains can be found at site

Charleston police and forensic specialists dug through a wooded patch of West Ashley on Monday, sifting through dirt by hand as they searched for the remains of a person missing for more than two decades.
More than a dozen police officers, crime scene workers and death investigators descended on the area after receiving information that the remains could be found in woods off Arlington Drive.

Capt. Gary Tillman, who supervises the detective division, would not disclose the source, but said investigators were able to substantiate enough information to get a search warrant for the property, which is owned by a private trust.

Sources said the tip came from a jailhouse informant who claimed the remains were those of a young woman who went missing in the area 26 years ago. The informant told authorities she was slain and her body deposited in the woods, sources said.

Tillman would not disclose details of the case except to say that "it's an old case that goes back in time." Investigators reportedly used ground-penetrating radar and a dog trained to sniff out cadavers to help pinpoint a likely area where the remains could be found.

The dig was expected to continue into the night, with floodlights guiding the way.

Later in the day, friends told Johnson that the search focused on a 26-year-old case in which a woman was killed.

Either they found nothing while searching or they didn't enter it in Namus. This are the UID's found in Charleston, SC (West Ashley is a neighborhood in Charleston) and they are all males. It makes me believe that the person they were trying to find, thinking it possibly was Cherry, was just a guess from LE at the time.

Maybe the information from the inmate wasn't correct. Yes, interesting to know where he got this info from/how he did know or even what his involvement was, if true at all.
