about the bathroom shower and wall paper...I have always had wall paper on the bottom part (below the chair rail line) and have never had a problem with it peeling. Before we went with the new walk in shower, we had a shower w/tub and used the shower 99% of the time.

Mod Podge is a wonder glue , I have used it many times for different crafts. If I apply a heavy coat for the 'paste' and apply 3 or 4 coats on top of the paper it should work. It sets up hard as a rock and water proof. I'm still gonna try it :giggle:

That sounds good that you are going to put some sort of coating on top of it. That sounds like a good idea.

Ive never used Mod Podge. Sounds like good stuff. :)

Oh Zuri, I don't even know if that is why it would not work it isonly a guess on my part. I think a few on a page is all right, but "maybe" the forum gets video-overload? Who knows. I enjoy the videos...... just have to give in and go to the big computer once in a while. All is OK, really.

Hatfield, your chickies look very healthy! How long does it take before they will be egg layers?

Soon. :) They are supposed to be able to start laying eggs this 1st year.

"Summer has arrived and your spring chicks will be approaching puberty. Assuming they’ve enjoyed good food and care, the young hens, called pullets, begin laying sometime between their 16th and 24th week of age. "

http://www.nutrenaworld.com/knowledge-center/poultry/when-pullets-start-to-lay-eggs/

But from what I have learned it is tricky to give them the proper calcium rich nutrition to help their egg shells get hard. So I expect we will have some trouble at first getting good quality eggs until we learn how to feed them right. The good news is the farm and country store down the road has special food and so they make it easy to know what food to buy at certain times of their life.

My biggest problem will be all the predators we have. Its a constant battle in the country trying to keep the coyotes, hawks, and owls from getting to them. If I can train them to sleep at night in the outdoor coop then I can shut the door and keep them safe as we have a nice large enclosed outdoor coop ready to go.

Its so fun raising them and watching them. We have been handling them as they are young and they are getting used to being handled which is a neat thing.

If anyone has ever had a bird like a cockatiel or a parrot or parakeet then you know what I mean about handling the birds when they are young. That is the key to help them not get afraid of human touch. Got to handle them a lot when they are babies. Then they do well as they get older and are not as afraid of you.

This is all very interesting, Hatfield. Keep sharing about your chicks!

We're going to change things up a bit. Keep hanging out on this thread for tonight. As soon as I can log in via my laptop tomorrow I'll get y'all a new place to chat opened. (Internet on the fritz & can only access from phone now)

Thanks in advance for your patience.

What exactly does "change things up a bit" mean lol? I guess the Travis Alexander Sidebar has seen the end of its' existence. I wonder what kind of thread will be in its place?

I have really enjoyed posting here for the last 3 years and I guess the change will be for the best for all of WS. You all have become friends in my head, as well as real life and I am so blessed to have met you. Xo

Morning all!

hmmm... no new thread....

OMG, but this was sooo funny!!! I want to know the ingenious way he got it out of the tree............ He didn't make you (or kitties) climb the tree, did he?

ETA: hmmmm.... I got your error message, too! I have deleted all your smilies and left mine--- will see if it posts now.

"You have included a total of 6 images in your message. The maximum number that you may include is 5. Please correct the problem and then continue again.

He took a long string and put a metal plumbing connector and kept throwing it up into the tree, until it snagged the drone! I tried throwing it up, but didn't have any luck!

Actually, 20 smilies are allowed... strange things happening here on WS...

Oh Hatfield - I like the black chicks! What kind are they? What will they grow up to look like? I had a Latvian friend who brought over an egg from Latvia (snuck it thru customs somehow!), and it hatched on his ranch! So, he had a Latvian chicken! Very pretty colors too!

Ryan is in what they call a 'semi-coma'. When he starts waking up he gets violent, they then give him a shot, settle him down, and he falls back into the semi coma. I do believe we have a very long road ahead of us. Please remember us in your thoughts and prayers.
Oh - I wanted to say - the wind chimes are perfectly tuned! He took my Casio keyboard and tuned the aluminum pipes! They sound really good! :D

Niner, I love those wind Chimes! They make the loveliest sounds. I have some like that hanging outside and their melody is soothing.

With this warm weather, I am forced to confront the need for spring, summer, fall, winter cleaning. I don't even know where to begin lol. Apparently, my new hoarding obsession is boxes and Yankee Candles. I have at least 30 + boxes of varying sizes everywhere. Who does this? Lol. So boxes to the curb and candles lit to make the house smell good. Dust rag in hand. Large Hefty bags open.

Enjoy this lovely weather!

I have no idea LOL

We got them at Atwoods which is a neat store that has strange things like live baby ducks, chickens, guineas, etc. They only carry the live animals in the spring.

We just saw the different colors and chose some of each. LOL

They are really nice and made well. It is great he tuned them. That is wonderful. Did he have to fill up the tubes at certain levels with something to get them to sound right ?

This is true, there are many predators out there to contend with. But I just wanted to remind you of one you might not have considered, which would be dog(s). Depending on the breed, many dogs are natural birders and can snap a chicken's neck in an instant. Unlike true predators who hunt chickens for food, dogs do it for (ahem) the fun of it. They don't really want to eat the chicken, and will usually just leave it be after killing it.

This information comes from a friend who lost a couple of chickens to her German Shepherds before she realized she had to have tighter security for both the chickens and the dogs.

Kansas is quiet, peaceful, and full of small hometown vibes. Your down-to-earth, humble personality, as well as your appreciation of the simple things in life make this state the perfect one for you!

This is so funny. We spent our honeymoon in Wichita Kansas. Memorial day weekend 1974, and for what ever reason (I really can't remember why I would of thought it a choice place to spend a honeymoon in) we drove to visit a good friend because his mother was going to be in town.

We get there late Saturday afternoon and there is female friend visiting (female story below) his mother, and she "made" a halter top out of two bandanna's while she was sitting between dh and his friend on the couch, takes her t shirt off and put it on there in front of everyone, and asks my dh to tie the damn thing for her. Men can be so stupid at times (there is a difference - dumb is not knowing any better, and stupid is knowing better or you should know better, but doing it anyway,) can't they? And saying you're just trying to help only makes it worse.

So, she leaves, and I'm tired and go lay down for awhile, when I wake up it's three in the morning and I'm all alone in the house. I sit and read a book , waiting for their return, which comes at dawn. They were two very tired men. They went riding in our new 1973 Cutlass Supreme out in the country to see if they could see any ufo's, and pulled over on the side of the road ,which had a culvert, which the car now straddled - no backing up - no going forward. They said there was nothing at all around them and they started walking (they were WUI), and finally came to a farmhouse with a large barking dog and a man with a shotgun on the porch, (their long hair probably didn't help) so they kept on walking until the got to a highway, and hitched a ride back. So as they make plans on getting the car (if they could remember - they said it was by a tree) , guess who shows up, and climbs in the car with our friend, two of his friends and dh after telling me there is no room for me and they drive off. Later that afternoon we cut our honeymoon short and drove back to Dallas. where dh got an earful allll the way home.

(do I sound bitter? She accused me of stealing her sewing box, which I didn't, I bought mine at Montgomery Wards when she was in Dallas a few months before and was with us. She just didn't like my idea of it being a perfect stash box first.)

Very funny story, Pages! What a memorable (and unusual) honeymoon!

Pages, I got so tickled while I was reading what you said about Miss hoochie mamma and the "help" (cough cough) she needed from your brand new GROOM to
tie her two bandanna "ho"-made  halter.
I think we all have encountered a gal like that at one time or another during our own marriages. Different circumstances, but the absolute same flirting with OUR husbands.
Everyone except Hatfield

OH no, please don't tell us they are taking away our Sidebar? This is our sanctuary, our safe place to fall. It's always been like free therapy. We get encouragement, help with problems in our life's, support and the very best thing is there has never been any judgment here. I have met so many wonderful friends here who seem like my family. In fact, I trust our posters here far more than most my real family. :frown:

I was going to post some picture's of my newest rescue addition, who has warmed his way right into my heart. :beagle:
But if this thread is closing, I'll wait until we hopefully we get a new thread.

I think they keep messing with the index pages and rearranging where things go .... I know I have struggled to find a few old threads at times. We Sidebarians (love that!) are going nowhere! Major revolt in the works if they dare. Besides ... Y/N has to be able to find us when she gets back.

OMG, I love, love, LOVE the wind chimes, Niner!! Me, too ..... curious how he managed to tune them! They Re beautiful and I am sure they sound terrific. I have always wanted a large set of these, but have you seen their prices?? Mine is a mini-mini set .

Gosh, Hatfield..... could you pick up a few of the Guinea for me? I do like them! There was a home near us that had several wandering around all the time. I wonder if they still do? May have to take another mini road trip to find out soon.

Dmacky, a new rescue!!?! And you kept it a secret? I demand pics soon!!! Like yesterday, ya'hear? :loveyou:

Hey all! Came over here to see if we had a new thread, oh well...

I have no idea LOL

LOL! On not knowing "what" kind they are! We have feed store like you said above - they also have baby ducks and chicks! But have too many predators around here to keep them safe. Our one-time neighbor had chickens - they'd be over here pecking the ground.

They are really nice and made well. It is great he tuned them. That is wonderful. Did he have to fill up the tubes at certain levels with something to get them to sound right ?

The wind chimes are beautiful, Niner! I'm curious as to how he tuned the pipes...

Huz says he used specific notes from an oriental soothing chant to get the notes right; no he didn't fill the tubes up, he just kept cutting them down until he got them all right! Also using a computer program that gives the optimal lengths the tubes should be, than using the Casio to get the right notes! he has one for sale - $300! :D

Maybe a new thread called The Sidebarians.......?? Too many friendships here for it to just go away IMO.

Sent from Wonderland

Oh I like that! :happydance: Thanks for the idea Alice from Wonderland!

Oh I bet the Mods will leave a trail for YESorNO to find us! They usually add a link at the end of closed threads! And WHERE is she Zuri?? Still BW problems?? Acckkkk!!

Okay - off to finish reading my book, as I have one my books on "hold" is ready!! :book:

See you all tomorrow! :seeya:

gaah message says I have 7 images, only 5 allowed... guess I'll have to take out some smilies...

Agree! And I notice Niner posted the price in teeny tiny print so I would not have a heart attack.

I think I am going to buy a new vacuum .... A Shark Rotator NV752. It better do wonders on sucking pet hair off furniture and floors.

Zuri -- aren't you loving this!?!? Daffodils are blooming here and I have windows open to further enjoy this wonderful weather. I, too, am doing some spring cleaning. I started wondering why spring is the time to clean, and I think it's more than just being able to get some fresh air into the house. More and more each year, winter is really depressing and when spring comes, it's energizing. Spring brings with it a sense of renewal. I LOVE spring!!!

As to all the leaves that I neglected to rake and bag in the fall... still not into that. :/ Hoping I can pay someone to do it, as I worry about Lyme disease...
