TX TX - Kristen Galvan, 15, previous victim of convicted sex trafficker, Spring, 2 Jan 2020

January 17, 2022

“The search was emotionally exhausting. Then, one day, the District Attorney brought Robyn a photo. They asked if it was Kristen.

"That picture was 100% my daughter," says Robyn, who was told the photo had been taken recently in Atlanta. "They would not reveal the website, so I scoured the web and found my daughter on an escort website. I flew up there. There were other girls listed in the same ad as her."

Robyn found the other girls. She did not find Kristen.”

[...]

“Yet in her quest for her daughter, Robyn says she’s running out of leads. No closure, even after multiple men were charged in connection with the trafficking Kristen was pulled into.”

One of the 24-year-old’s victims was 15-year-old Kristen Galvan, who went missing back in January 2020, and still hasn’t been found.

"I don’t know where she is," Cory explained. "There’s been no new leads on her."

"As far as my knowledge is, he doesn’t know where she is but if he did, and he told me I definitely would tell that family I definitely would," says Jackson’s dad Steven said.

"I just want to say to the family my heart goes out to you," Mr. Jackson said. "Me and my wife we pray for you guys. We wish your daughter will come back to you. I thank God my son didn’t get life and I hope he grows from this."

He should have received nothing less than life without the possibility of parole.

She was trafficked by this low life and wasn't found among the girls he was holding? That's not good news. I'm hoping she turns up some place else and makes her way back home.

In this week's episode Dateline follows a mother, private detective and armed bounty hunters trying to rescue teenagers from a sex trafficking underworld in Texas. Watch Children for Sale, Tuesday 18 April, 9.30pm on SBS or stream via SBS On Demand.

Robyn Cory drives down a busy Houston street looking for her daughter Kristen.

She is accompanied by private investigator Betty Simons and a team of armed bounty hunters.

**********
Kristen is among the 80,000 young people who have been forced into sex trafficking in Texas. The average age a girl starts to be sold at is 15.

Houston has more cases than any other city in the United States.

Long article, more about Kristen, but also about trafficking in TX and trafficking in general.

Four years ago, 15-year-old Kristen Galvan ran away from home. Kristen’s mother, Robyn, claims an up-and-coming Houston rapper lured her daughter with promises of nice things and pretty nails. After a desperate two-week search, police found her little girl on a Houston street notorious for prostitution.

Two months later, Kristen disappeared again, drawn into the dark world of child sex trafficking. She’s now been missing for three years. Robyn says she’s run out of leads, but she’s still holding out for a miracle. Betty Simons, a private investigator Robyn hired, shares why Kristen’s case haunts her. Then, Dasia says she was 17 when she was lured by a man she met on a dating site who sex trafficked her for four years until she ran for her life. Plus, former athletes and sexual assault survivors Jon Vaughn and Trinea Gonczar tell Dr. Phil about their new partnership to fight sexual assault.

Obviously not to downplay trafficking, but I think we need citation on that 70% number. I find it extremely hard to believe there are 300K teens being sex trafficked in this country each year.

I am pretty sure I have read articles that completely debund those numbers.
I don't think anyone has accurately correlated the number of missing teens to sex trafficked percentage (that could only possibly count the number of resolved sex trafficking cases involving teens who were reported missing, which was about 300 for 2000-2022/44%) What we do know is roughly 340k juveniles went missing in 2022 (for example) with 30k of those still actively missing as of Jan 2023 according to opened NCIC cases.

NCMEC suggests 1 in 6 endangered runaways reported missing(25k+) in 2022 were *likely* the victim of sex trafficking. It is important to note they mean still unresolved cases (correlating to the NCIC number) Our Impact

But juvenile sex trafficking is a huge problem. Here is some solid information about trafficking:

Just the US

A few days later, KHOU 11 met with the mother of Kristen Galvan, whose daughter was first reported missing in 2019.

“There’s absolutely no leads on my daughter. It’s just complete silence,” Robyn Cory said.

“We’re still searching for her,” Cory said. “We have no new leads.”

“No victims are missing other than my daughter,” Cory said.

Houston police found the 15-year-old on the stretch of Bissonnet in southwest Houston that is notorious for prostitution, known as the “Track.” The teen was being sold for sex by a woman and her son.

Kristen returned home, but after two weeks in January of 2020, the teen left home a second time.

She was never seen or heard from again.

“They thought she was a runaway, but in fact, she was not,” Cory said. “And I begged, I pleaded, I begged them for an Amber Alert and they wouldn’t give it to me. We could’ve had Kristen within 24 hours.”

I am watching the Disappeared episode about Kristen Galvan's case, a very important detail I found, but so far skip the attention of all of previous posts here, is that police found $4000 cash on Kristen when they detain her.
