@Yozzer I have studied this sighting further and agree with you. To explain what I have seen for the benefit of @rehtnap and @Mrs Marple There is definitely a car parked up on the grass verge opposite the sight line you mention it is facing in the direction of traffic travel and as the car we know well breaks, what appears to be Claudia gets out of the car parked on the grass verge.
What is important here is that all of the houses in this road have ample drives and also extended driveways that go out to the road. There is no need for someone to park on the verge if visiting one of these houses.

Also there is an element of pixelation going on here to try and obscure the image as it crosses the road from the parked car, either to Claudias house or to meet up with the braking car.
But they can still be seen.

I've checked this against the google map from 2008 and you will see there is a lot of street signage etc in that spot. The school crossing sign is a useful marker. On the googlemap you will see there are 2 concrete stumps just beyond the 'school' sign embedded in the outer road side of the grass verge. If you look again at the night cctv of the street, what you thought was a vehicle parked side on with wheel hubs is actually the 2 concrete posts lit up by the Ford Focus's headlights. Once you see this, the other shapes that make it look like a parked car become clearer and are actually: kerb, driveway and front wall of house.

I stand by my original impression of a person wearing a dark top and light trousers near to where the car brakes and think it is a reasonable assumption based on the actual events on cctv - that is, a car is braking because....it is parking, there is an obstacle in front, someone is being picked up/dropped off.
However, I am willing to accept it could be a false camera movement playing tricks with my eyes :).

u cant enhance past what the pixels will let u( u can sort of but it becomes predictive infill rather like ur predictive text on ur phone and we all know what that's like!) ,,csi Miami does lie sometimes zooming in on a car reg plate from 2 miles away lol.....I question the 2 people "seen" in the video.. the blond to the right just seems to be the car rear light and some distortion in the vid picture as is the person to the left.Look at the house windows u will see the distortion caused there and to be stood where ones thought too be the house door would have to be open...like others I ask wheres the footage from the camera on the building to the right.my guess is there isn't any or whats the point of releasing a less clear view from further back when u want to id the guy??

Didn't we have a photo from this place with a car parked on the left side on the footpath (viewing the pic)? Look at the lamp, which is on to the left. In front of it the footpath is blurry. I remember a car right there .... Totally wrong memory??

If this pic is from different time than that, which I remember, then I wonder, why and when someone got it at all?

I suppose that if you were waiting for a lift and the lift giver was a little late, you may well stand on the side of the road that they would be driving on rather than be outside or inside your house.

Yes - or if the person was a passenger getting out kerbside.

If I read correctly it was said a neighbour opposite had a cctv camera set up that captured cl house albeit blury due to condensation..did they say that from that they could see whether cl left for work in the morning..it saw her nip out to do an errand???

It was referring to the 15:05 sighting on their timeline of her returning from the errand she went out on after returning home from work. It mentioned that whilst blurry and affected by condensation (unusual at that time of day) they could still make out it was Claudia and she was returning home. Further information I have is that she was seen on her own and not with someone.

I have raised the question, why did they not use footage from that same camera to view other comings and goings. Police remain silent on this matter.
Dependent on quality of footage and capacity of storage of footage, there could be some very telling views here?

ll that's what I thought..it would at least show blury figures leaving in the morning so would answer the question did she set off to work as usual..perhaps it didn't work then..surley would have enough capacity as they were using it to catch a garden vandal..mind you the police only release what they want people to see.

Yes and they will want to preserve prosecution evidence and not show Perps by they could have said
"We know that Claudia did not leave for work that morning from her house"
Or
If they saw that after returning home that afternoon that she never left again.

"It is highly unlikely that Claudia left for work that morning"

surprised if she walked down to the university that no other cctv caught her..didn't she have to walk past the petrol station??

I think petrol station is on Tan Hall Road. That would be her driving route as it's quicker but quicker to walk down Melrosegate where the only CCTV camera is at Melrosegate Post Office. That should have picked her up but only if she walked that bit.

1. because the person waited a year before telling someone.
2. from what I can tell, the colleague was male? If so, I think it highly unlikely that she would tell him and not, say for example, her friend Suzy.
We tend to spend a lot more time with work colleagues then family and friends !

The alley is a problem in this regard. In theory she could have got a lift from a car parked in Heworth Place.

We just don't know how often (if ever) she used the back gate e.g. for covert pick ups/drop offs.

True and perhaps revealing the new boyfriend (assuming he did actually exist) would have caused a problem for CL if she had disclosed his identity to Suzy & other 'close' Nag's Head friends. We have been told she compartmentalised relationships.

So the melrosegate post office camera should have cl’s transport !The question is which car and how many in say 20 minute window ?
A witness says they saw a ‘red’ car with passenger door open.ok how many red cars in that twenty minute window ?

Only if she was still alive and went to work on the morning of the 19th...

We have no evidence to the contrary !
She is missing and we have no evidence that she was even alive at 5.30am on 19/11/09. The cold case team strongly hinted she had been 'removed' via the alley and that would probably have been an overnight job.

If we were privy to the answers to questions put to neighbours in the following days, no doubt some would have been able to comment on whether lighting was on or off in the house during the evening of 18th and morning of 19th so a timeline would become possible. We just don't know enough.

@Popejohn3 If she was picked up in a blue / Silver / Metallic Ford Escort, how does this metamorphose into what looks like a Red Volvo Saloon by the time it gets to the Uni boundary. Is this some kind of relay race going on here and just because some oink rings police and alleges that they saw something we have to believe it?
