Jordan was 16 when he was last seen (31st August 2008) standing at 5 ft 7 with bright ginger hair. The Moston born boy, described as likable and friendly, was due to visit the Men’s Direct Hostel in Longsight that day but has not been seen since. His aunt whom he had been cared for by since he was 20 months old dropped him off in Manchester city centre’s Tib Street at 4.45pm. Jordan has very little on him, only a small black rucksack, a packet of crisps and £5 in cash. His aunt left him with the parting message “call me when you get settled”.

Jordan never called. Jordan never arrived at the hostel despite the hostel only being a less than 1 mile walk through the busy streets of the city centre from where he was dropped off. CCTV did not catch Jordan due to the gap in time between his last sighting in the city centre and when the missing persons report was submitted.

Jordan had originally agreed to spend some time at the hostel after his aunt became a carer for Jordan’s grandfather who had become ill. His aunt states that they parted on good terms however he wasn’t reported missing until September 8th 2008 as she had ‘not expected to immediately hear from Jordan’.

A £20,000 reward is still unclaimed after originally being donated in return for information that leads to Jordan. A sighting of Jordan in 2012 in Liverpool was discounted and possible sightings in London have led the police to London 3 times however these sightings were never confirmed or discounted it is believed.

When there was no confirmation of the sightings of Jordan the case was passed onto the Greater Manchester Police murder team who believed that the secret to Jordan’s disappearance may lie in the city centre canal. A section of the Rochdale canal was drained last April in the search for a body however Jordan was not found.

Officers remain working on the assumption that Jordan is still alive however it has to be taken into consideration that this may not be the case.

A fresh appeal is being made to find a man who has been missing for eight years, on his 25th birthday.
---
A computer-generated image of what he may look like now was produced last year.

Det Con Christopher Doggart of GMP said "efforts are still very much being made to find him".
---
He said officers were revisiting lines of inquiry and making renewed searches of the Greater Manchester area but information from the public could still prove crucial.

He said: "The £20,000 reward still stands and I would urge people to study the images that we previously released showing Jordan as he is now more likely to look."

10th anniversary of Jordan Ratcliffe disappearance

A £20,000 reward remains in place for anyone with information leading to the whereabouts of Jordan Ratcliffe.

Jordan was 16-years-old when his aunt, Kimberley Pierce dropped him off on Tib Street at 4.45pm on 31 August 2008.

He was due to visit the Men’s Direct Hostel in Longsight, but never arrived.
---
In April 2017 Piccadilly Basin was drained as part of the hunt for Jordan.

The North West Police Underwater Search and Marine Unit searched the canal shallows but found no evidence to assist the investigation.

Despite his image appearing numerous times in local and national media, Jordan – who would now be 26-years-old – has never been found.

Jordan was a well-known and well-liked young lad who grew up in Moston. He attended the North Manchester school for boys – liked football and supported Manchester United.

On this day 15 years ago, Kimberley Pierce dropped her nephew off at a hostel in Manchester city centre and waved goodbye to him. It was the last time she, or anyone else, would ever see him. Jordan Ratcliffe, was just 16 when he seemingly vanished without a trace.

He and Kimberley had bid each other a friendly goodbye in the late afternoon of August 31, 2008, and Kimberley asked Jordan to ring her once he'd settled in to let her know that he was okay.

But that phone call never came. Initially, Kimberley didn't think too much of it but as the days passed by without contact, she grew concerned and reported him missing to police on September 8.

Now 15 years later, Kimberley still hasn't given up hope of finding her nephew, and has the message: "Jordan we love and miss you, we just want you home, please will you let us know you are ok xx."

Why drop off a kid ( I’m American so 16 is a child still moo) …anyway, why drop him off on Tib street.? Was is as bad in 2008 as it was in the 80’s?

I don’t like this.
