I agree. And I wonder why LE are calling his injuries near life threatening. I've never seen near life threatening injuries that didn't require medical attention immediately to not become life threatening. He did go till the next night. How is that so dangerous of injuries? I am SO glad she really hurt him though. I wish we could have more detail on the injuries. But maybe I just want that since I'm in the medical field.

Me either. I use easy off oven cleaner. I figure anything I have to wear gloves to use and takes the numbers off my stove (when I accidentally got some on the top) .......I figure that must be better than mace....cheaper to. My daughter and I both carry some in our car.:what:

Oven cleaner burns like hell fire! That would melt a creep's eyeballs. One of my friends refinishes furniture and she uses oven cleaner to strip off old finishes. I used it once and wore elbow length rubber gloves used to handle le chemicals. A tiny bit of the spray got onto my upper arm-OUCH!!!!

One thing to keep in mind about oven cleaner and similar improvised spray protection -- it can do serious permanent damage ... blind and/or scar, also probably dangerous to inhale. I know y'all are probably thinking, "Good, I hope so, if I ever have need to use it!" But what I'm especially cautioning about is that you must also think about the possibility that a perp could get control of it and use it on YOU -- or it could blow back in your face or on your skin. So be knowledgeable and careful!

Can somebody tell me how far BSL lived from MS's town?
The reason I ask, if BSL was calling around to escorts, why was he doing it in MS's town? Was he intinally suppose to meet a escort lady around that town and she backed out?

I know this would be awkward to carry in your purse but it fits right in your car with no problem. A can of wasp and hornet spray will spray about 25 feet and will disable someone right away and he or she will go to the hospital to get it out of their eyes. The permetrin in it will make him or her change their mind in a big hurry. A few of the self defense instructors has mentioned this before.

There are no escort services in Swords or Church Point ... Lafayette is the nearest "big" town and it's not unusual for surrounding areas to go to Lafayette for lots of things... If you want to go to a mall, it's in Lafayette, etc...

Wonder what the law says about using such products in self-defense? I thought that using a product for something other than intentioned could result in the victim getting prosecuted?

I'm asking because I know of victims being re-victimized by the system.

Like I said earlier, I've talked to people in my neighborhood about major incidents, like a car crashing into a house, a woman being murdered, just right down their street in the early morning hours, and apparently: No one heard anything, or chose not to, even with sirens blaring non-stop.

Yes, I know about the Kitty Genovese murder, and the stories about people lying motionless in the streets and no one doing anything.

My sisters lived 2 blocks from this area when we were in college. The field is open and on the other side is a coliseum (The old basketball coliseum) and to the north the university nursery/horticulture center. I imagine that even at 2 a.m. if she were closer to the coliseum side of St. Landry, no one heard anything. That road was not even lit at night back then.

Anyone know where Mickey lived? I find it weird she would have gone that way and not down St. Mary or one of the saint streets that are populated with houses--particularly if he started following her near university.

Escort services/call girls or whatever you want to call them......they live in every town just about. Some are known by locals, some advertise on craigslist, and some work for secret escort companies. My bil used them all the time before he got married. He is a pipe liner, so he would call a number and they would send girls to him whatever town he was in.
My brother worked many offshore rigs in south la as a sandblaster. One thing him and his friends always talked about was all the girls waiting on shore for guys coming off rigs. I remember one time my brother showed up in ville platte broke as a dog bc some "call girl" robbed him during the night. And this was ville platte. Pretty small town.

I'm always surprised when I go on craigslist. Lots of local people post "hook up" post for money.

I heard on the radio today that using wasp spray is good to be able to spray it on someone who is not that close to you. It sprays a straight shot up to 20 feet or so.

My coworker lives one block away. His girlfriend had just taken a very similar route on her bike, returning home about five minutes before Mickey rode past their house (estimated time by biking speed). They were awake for over an hour, in the room closest to the street, and heard nothing.

Their neighbor is a very by the book neighborhood watch, call the cops on everyone- kind of fellow, he didn't hear anything either.

Mickey lived with her parents and little brother, who lived on a side street off of Ambassador Caffery near the Wal-Mart (I'd feel weird posting their street, but it has been posted here before & is easily found doing a google search).

My guess for why she took the way home she did was so she would be able to get onto the UL bike path.

You can catch the new UL bike path very easily by taking St Landry down through the fields to Coliseum by taking a left on it (it meets up with the path near Johnston & the coliesum) or you can take a right on Coliseum and meet up with the bike path by crossing the coulee near the sorority/fraternity houses (there's a bridge). Mickey could take the bike path to Johnston to Ambassador and then home or the bike trail to Congress to Ambassador and then home.

Either way it's pretty desolate & not well-lit in the St.Landry/Dean/Coliseum fields area until you meet up with the bike trail.

My guess is she took this way quite frequently & didn't think anything of the truck following her until she got closer to the fields and realized the truck hadn't turned onto one of the residential streets that intersect with St. Landry. Must have been terrifying.
