VICTIM - Mickey Shunick, 21, of Lafayette, LA (Theories)

One thing to keep in mind about oven cleaner and similar improvised spray protection -- it can do serious permanent damage ... blind and/or scar, also probably dangerous to inhale. I know y'all are probably thinking, "Good, I hope so, if I ever have need to use it!" But what I'm especially cautioning about is that you must also think about the possibility that a perp could get control of it and use it on YOU -- or it could blow back in your face or on your skin. So be knowledgeable and careful!

good point. also you need to think of the legal aspect of it as well. you can get in to major legal trouble if the courts believed it is considered to be beyond self defense. You might even end up having to pay for your perps damages and possible fine/jail time. So just be aware. Every state is different. Some states if you use a stun gun out side of your home it's illegal. Certain types of legal bullets can be found to be too "harmful" and you can no longer be within self defense terms and it can be found to be premeditated!!! CRAZY! So I don't know how the courts would take walking around with oven cleaner?? Wish we had some lawyers on here!! Even though it is different in every state.

Not a theory but just a notice that the obituary for Mickey Shunick's obituary is published today in the Daily Advertiser:

Dear Mickey, Rest in peace and know that you will be
remembered in our hearts and minds for a long, long time.

Cried when I read this.

As an animal lover, I would be so very pleased if my family wrote me an obituary like this.

Feel very much the same here, ktgirl!

I noticed that one of the animal organizations specifically named is here in Georgia (while several are more local to the Lafayette area). I am wondering if Mickey had or a member of her family has a special place in the heart for this out-of-state group for some reason.

(I understand the out-of-state search and rescue related animal groups -- but I think the Georgia group is strictly an animal rescue.)

Last night, when I was out walking around 11 pm, a young cyclist rode by with her curly blond hair streaming behind her. She looked so free, and I thought of Mickey. That's the way it's supposed to be!

She was an exceptionally beautiful young girl. :( R..I.P. Mickey.

My thoughts are with Mickey and the Shunick family today. May their memories be only happy ones, like Mickey here, on top of the world.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

It must be a hard day for the Shunicks. I hope they find peace in good memories.
