Trump is now a convicted felon. He is finally being held accountable for at least some of his crim

It is my understanding that convicted individuals can't appeal just because they don't like the verdict. Appeals must be based on whether or not the law was applied correctly throughout the trial.
Absolutely. Multiple bases for appeal. Higher courts. Look.... you don't even need to be blessed with eyesight or common sense to see the bias and motivations here.

Cameras have not been allowed inside the courtroom while proceedings have been under way, but a sketch artist captured scenes as the verdict was read out in Donald Trump’s criminal trial.

Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. President Donald Trump reacts as the verdict is read in his criminal trial over charges that he falsified business records to conceal money paid to silence porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016, at Manhattan state court in New York City, U.S. May 30, 2024 in this courtroom sketch.

It appears that most here are happy with the verdict? Can Trump still run for president? Will he still be nominated? What crazy times we live in....

<modsnip - quoted post was removed>

Highly suspect that all his civil and federal trials happened to come in the election year. Planned I believe.

I bet if the situation and the case were exactly the same in every way except the defendant's name was Biden instead of Trump, there would be far fewer complaints that it's all a political witch hunt among those who are making those complaints today.

JMO.

Personally I am not happy. I feel the verdict was just and is a good thing that someone who committed crimes is held accountable for it. Law and order. But it is sad that someone of such low moral character was ever elected president and could be considered as a candidate again.

Donald Trump was tried by a jury agreed on by both sides. Upon hearing and considering the evidence, and following the laws of the United States, they found him guilty all of 34 counts.

Donald Trump is guilty. Donald Trump is a criminal. Donald Trump is a convicted felon. End of story.

No need to feel sorry for me.

I commented on Trump more than Biden because I think you know Trump was on trial and was found guilty today on all 34 counts?????????

That’s why.

We are each entitled to our opinion, so I won’t complain about yours. If Biden were on trial and found guilty today, I’d post about that.

JMO
It's an incident recorded and relayed multiple times over multiple dates. 34 counts is a scam for political gain. IMO
<modsnip - off topic>

I appreciate everyone's opinion.

I agree, and I am deeply saddened by all the attacks on our criminal justice system by Trump sycophants.

At this moment, he is one of those people we would not want coming across our borders right? a Felon?

To be completely fair, since Trump was born in America I can’t equate him to a felon who comes here illegally.
As to a convicted felon becoming president, IMO that’s a disgrace to our nation.

In my opinion this is actually much better for Trump. He has an even possibility of becoming President, and a good chance that all these trials won’t be complete by Election Day, which gives him the opportunity to have the federal cases against him dismissed.

If these trials started three years ago and he was found guilty, my guess is he wouldn’t have become the presumptive Republican nominee.

Just an opinion.

Secret Service says no change to Trump's security measures

The Secret Service, which is charged with protecting current and former presidents of the United States, has put out a very short statement:

"Today’s outcome has no bearing on the manner in which the United States Secret Service carries out its protective mission," it reads.

"Our security measures will proceed unchanged."

According to CBS News, the BBC's media partner, security officials are monitoring the threat environment, and are prepared to bolster forces if needed.

But at this time, there are no specific or credible threats, and the security level around Donald Trump remains unchanged.

I have stared at your post forever.

The fact that many many men of low moral character have been elected to government as well as a candidate is a...reality.

We really have no idea what is done behind closed doors since George Washington was the first president. And frankly I probably don't want to even know.

So many of these men and probably women have done wicked, atrocious things all thru history and we don't even know about it.

It's how I felt about Watergate. ALL of them were doing wicked and unscrupulous things-- but Nixon got busted.

With that said, in the stream of history, here is Trump, another official in "such low moral character" and yes, he could be considered as a candidate again...........

You can thank Merrick Garland for dragging his feet before indicting Trump
In the documents and coup cases

E Jean Carroll, the writer who accused Donald Trump of sexual assault and won nearly $90m in civil judgments against him, responded to the verdict by posting a photo of Stormy Daniels and the caption:

Justice!!

Stormy Daniels is “relieved that this case is now over,” her lawyer said in a statement shared by the New York Times. Daniels’ lawyer Clark Brewster said:

She always had great faith in our justice system and in the solemn oath jurors take in undertaking their service. No man is above the law, and the selfless hardworking service of each of these jurors should be respected and appreciated.
