ALAMEDA, Calif. (KRON) — Shane Killian looks like a typical proud father on social media. In his current Facebook profile photo, he smiles and holds up his adorable baby for a selfie.

In September of 2023, Killian and his wife celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary. He wrote on Facebook, “Happy anniversary my love. It was by the grace of God that I found you, by His grace that we have two beautiful children, and I hope by His grace that I will share this life for many more years to come.”

God this is tragic. I wonder if there was tension between his in-laws and him. On his FB page there are several comments jokingly pointing out how much older Killian is than his wife.

I did read some comments which said he did not get along with his in-laws and was upset when they moved into his home :(

Moo.. I wonder who's house it was? Did the inlaws move into his house? Did he move into their house? If he is used to being man of the house....there would be tension. Moo

He's got a prior conviction for violence
In one of the news stories, his co-workers described him as a nice guy with a quick temper. But none of them seemed to think he was capable of murdering his own family. It wasn't the story you posted, but in another.

I haven't heard an update on the 14 month old he tried to murder. He was said to be in critical condition, but I'm hoping he's improving :(

I wonder what are the criteria for a “nice guy with a quick temper”? “Yeah, he used to go red in the face abd scream at the waitress if she messed up his order. But he bought us rounds of beer, so we figured he was on the side of the angels”?

Wow. I don’t mean this as a personal insult, and of course mug shots do no favors, but he looks far older than 54.

Shane Killian, 54
Brenda Natali Morales
Miguel Carcamo
Marta Elena Morales
William, 6
Wesley, 1

Has anyone seen information on the ages of the other victims?

I don’t mean this as a personal insult either, but it’s not often you see a blue collar guy who isn’t particularly handsome with a younger wife and starting a family so late.

IMO such is more common in cross-cultural marriages, especially from two different nations. MOO
Yes, and IMO such marriages often involve strict control of the wife by the husband, with some being little more than legalized trafficking. I bet SK was losing his perceived control in some way and snapped.

IMHO: This particular case looks like a classic continuous domestic abuse/violence situation which ends with horrible murder of the most vulnerable family members.
MOO: The main reason for DV against women and children is patriarchal (neo-patriarchal) culture of male dominance and brutality in which many men are still raised. And the type of marriage, whether from the same culture or different, does not play a major role. JMO

This is terrible. I grew up in Alameda. When I was a kid, I lived across the street from the S.F Bay until it was filled in during the mid 1950’s. The Killian home isn’t far from where I lived and is only about a block from the bay. It’s on what we called “the fill” but the preferred term was “The South Shore.” It was a great place to grow up back then and I imagine it still is. I’m sorry his children will miss out on adventures on the beach. I have fond memories.

That's what I have been thinking that it looks like a classic case of she was divorcing him or had filed for one and he was blaming the in-laws for it with the mentality if I can have you and the kids nobody will.

There has been no mention of a divorce. The preciptating event appears to be Killian's dislike of his inlaws and the fact they moved into his home. No details on why they moved in, but apparently the situation in the home escalated.
