I'm speculating that SS is an only child, his parents are of means, and mom especially has made excuses for SS's behavior his entire life -- not unlike the mother's of Scott Peterson, Patrick Frazee, Chris Watts, and others...

I don't know if SS's social media ever found or linked on WS, and no knowledge if SS attended/graduated University. Also unknown if at age 38, whether SS had any professional or career employment experience or if his work experience was limited to a short stint working for/at Disney. We know from investigation documents that SS allegedly had relocated to take a job with his father that did not work out.

I recall GH interviewed former roommate(s) of SS who described SS's parents as real estate investors/developers and Mom a longtime poodle dog breeder, and that the roommates lived with SS in rental property owned by his parents. In other words, providing an appearance of many years where SS could have avoided gainful employment, and no evidence of SS ever personally providing a roof over his own head.

In the 800+pg document dump, we learned both that MS seemingly had a very close relationship with her mother's boyfriend/stepfather figure (SS), but more recently, MS described SS to a school counselor as somebody who occupied their home, ate all their food, and made her feel uncomfortable. MS's last update with her counselor included that things improved at home after SS moved out-- including her relationship with her mother, JS. Again, not exactly the picture of an adult male contributing to the overhead-- which is likely the complete opposite of the picture SS has been presenting to his parents for the past 5+ years.

IMO, SS fits the pattern of an experienced child predator highly skilled at manipulation, who made himself indispensable to JS -- a single parent, with a young daughter. A man with a lot of free time who without hesitation, could easily conform to MS schedule.

I have found it curious that “his” room in the home was kept empty.

He didn’t have a job and didn’t live there, the room is even referred to as a guest room, so he probably wasn’t paying rent. Even if we assume MS legitimately preferred to sleep in JS’s room every night and didn’t need a room of her own beyond the partitioned living room space, what about the roommates?

There was an adult and her teenaged son sharing a room there. And meanwhile a room sat empty for SS’s visits?

Given that on 7/16, SS's public defenders (Bourdon and Smith) received Discovery described as "Jail Calls 5/20 - 7/1/2024," I believe the Stipulated Protective Order dated 7/17/24 was timely filed by the defense to deem certain records Confidential and/or Exempt from Public records (i.e., not subject to Florida Sunshine Law).

There's already been much public discussion of SS's emails from jail -- more specifically evidence that SS may be alluding to an alternate suspect, and no surprise if the defense has stipulated certain evidence including but not limited to Jail Calls not be disclosed to protect SS's right to a fair trial. JMO
I read it as a stipulation to provide, not to prevent access. I.e. the records requested must be provided. But MOO.. could be either way.

And he's a liar. We already heard him once say that MS had something on her phone, I think he even said she wasn't punished for it. Quick to victim blame.

He probably told his parents a steaming pile of lies.

The CSAM was downloaded by a series of imaginary boyfriends of JS, MS filmed some things and shouldn't have, he was intimate with JS not MS and LE is incompetent. The images are from the internet. Lie, lie, lie.

But I'm guessing there's been a looooong history of minimizing and cleaning up after SS. Such a nice man, so helpful. Yeah, he maybe fed one poodle one time.

His parents probably learned a long time ago not to ask him questions. Family dynamic runs more smoothly that way. And by 'family dynamic', I mean 'family dysfunction'. Adult who can't hold a job whose primary "relationship" is with A CHILD.

Keeping moving around might be one way he kept his lies in the air.

I'd say things probably weren't working out so well with a JOB, so he was angling toward JS's couch -- oh, that's right, forget couch -- he had his own bedroom. In fact, he seemed to control ALL the bedrooms, including MS's makeshift nonbedroom AND under door video privileges throughout.

He is a plague.

JMO
A plague and also a murdering child rapist. DP express lane for SS with all the video evidence they have of him abusing MS from age 8 until moving her dead body from the passenger seat to the trunk.

What I can't comprehend is what were the 'roommates' thinking, seeing or hearing? It was a small townhouse, not a lot of room for privacy.

The Alex Murdaugh case released his jailhouse phone calls. Florida has one of the most open policies on releasing information especially when it states before placing the call that they are recorded and may be monitored. Do you think the D will be successful in keeping that info out of this public?

Weren't a few of Casey A's call with G & C also played in public?

The sheriff was not arrested after the alleged incident. In fact, this is a non-criminal citation.

Court documents from the state attorney's office don't spell out exactly what they believe Lopez did, but the citation does say he is accused of publishing a picture depicting the killing of a minor.

In the upcoming election, Lopez is facing five challengers for his job.

Could the roommates have been "using" that address for school purposes; but possibly actually "living" somewhere else? I find it shocking that when MS went missing, there was never any mention of interviews with "roommates". I don't remember hearing anything about roommates until the 800pgs came out, please correct me if i'm wrong.

Reference to imstilla.grandma post #884 above, what ever became of the matter of the ‘selfie’ posted by Nirva Rodriguez, Florida OCSD Executive Director? The one that posted the IMO self-aggrandizing image of her during the arrest of Stephan Sterns?

To my understanding that behavior by a ‘professional’ was equally disturbing and disgusting as that other image release by the sheriff.

Is Ms. Rodriguez not also being investigated for that horrid unprofessional conduct? I sure hope so….. and if not how does that get examined? And rectified for such deliberate actions?

March 4, 2024 TMZ online article entitled ‘Sheriff Posts Possible Crime Scene Photo on IG ... Apologizes, Cites Accident’. The article includes reference to both incidents of IMO unprofessional and reprehensible conduct by paid professionals:

Even if nothing had gone on between SS and Maddie (pretend just for a moment), you'd think they'd STILL question why they slept together when she had a place she could have slept in her makeshift bedroom in the living room. All of his (and JS's) excuses, even "she likes to snuggle before she falls asleep" and "she doesn't like sleeping alone" should have had red flags waving so hard and fast that their hair flew out behind them.

Absolutely, it makes me suspicious about these roomies. They would had to have shared common areas like the bathroom and kitchen, etc. Nobody ever saw or heard anything??? Weird to me.

There was an interview with a roommate. She and her son lived there. Pg 875.

Sunday, February 25 at approximately 1230 hours.

REDACTED identified herself as REDACTED’s roommate. She and her fifteen year old son have a room in the home. REDACTED last saw Maddie on the afternoon of Sunday, February 25 at approximately 1230 hours. REDACTED did not see Maddie return to the home because she was already in bed by 2045 hours. Further, REDACTED did not see Maddie leaving the home as she always leaves by 0745 hours.

If it was his habit to abuse her in the early morning hours, when everyone else was asleep, or when the house was empty of others, nobody may have been around to see.

Child abuse can be remarkably silent. Children who are abused long term are terrified into silence and often dissociate to distance themselves from what is happening, even during the most brutal attacks.

Not only that, but I just can't imagine that those walls were very soundproof. Things had the be heard by others living in the house, things that "we were just snuggling" will NOT explain away.

Obvs JMO!

Then Maddie was at her own home between "the week at grandma" and her Sunday birthday party?

Perhaps, but the way I read that is the roommate was simply stating when she last saw Maddie (Sunday after her party), there was no mention of the time(s) before that. It could have been any day that week, or perhaps that was the only time she saw her that week. From the roommates statement, that isn't clear to me.

The only thing she was clear about was not seeing SS before the 25th.

Pg 875:

Stephan was staying in the home for approximately six months; however, he moved out of the home three to four months prior. Stephan and [JS] broke up, but still agreed to live with one another until he left. Stephan and [JS] have been together for five or six years. REDACTED did not see Stephan at all until the afternoon of Monday, February 26 and does not believe he arrived at the home until the night of February 25.

I have to wonder if the whole bunch of them weren’t aware of what was going on in that house.

They perhaps knew of the odd sleeping arrangements, unless Jen & Stephen made a point to keep that hidden/private, in which case that would indicate that BOTH were aware that it was totally inappropriate, so that would shoot down mom's possible defense of "I was just naive and didn't think there was anything wrong or disturbing about it" pretty quick.

If roommates did know, they had to find it concerning or at least odd. Why they chose to say nothing if they did know, I imagine there's a plethora of possible reasons ranging from "They seemed like nice/normal parents so we didn't suspect it was anything criminal, just odd" to "We thought maybe we were just being paranoid in our concerns" to "we didn't want to be kicked out of the room.we were renting for questioning our landlord's parental decisions"

Or perhaps they simply didn't know anything. Right now, even as I type this, there's many kids out there being assaulted by someone in their household, and the rest of the household has absolutely no idea that it's going on, right under their noses.

"REDACTED last saw Maddie on the afternoon of Sunday, February 25 at approximately 1230 hours."

I wondered about the time, especially because it certainly was before MS' party. Maddie being at grandma for vacation and having a birthday celebration at grandma's home on the last day of the vacation, that made me think of: Why did MS return to her own home and JS in between and could be seen by REDACTED?
Next question I have: Who brought her there and afterwards back to grandma? I don't know, if it is relevant, but I'm looking for the many little mysteries.

This makes me even more curious at to what was going on in that house. This person and her 15 yo son rented a room in the house. A 15 yo boy and a 12/13 yo girl would have been aware of each other for sure. IMO

This person always leaves by 7:45 am, didn't SS say they (he and Maddie) were up early and leaving the townhouse around that time? When Madeline and SS were seen leaving in the gate video she already appeared deceased according to the LE Document Dump.

So when did SS kill her and why did no one hear it or see him carrying a dead body to the car? Again, this is a 1,450 sq ft. townhouse, not a large rambling home with lots of privacy. I think SS killed Madeline earlier in the morning or later the night before and put her in the car before anyone was up and moving around.

Maybe SS and JS kept their vehicles in the garage and the roomies parked in the driveway? IDK

Something is nagging my mind about this. Wasn't JS's bedroom downstairs and the rest upstairs? A partitioned off area in this small townhouse with this many people living/staying there seems odd, especially considering it was in the living room area I believe? Did the renters not utilize the living room area or the kitchen at all?

All my opinion, just overthinking this horrible tragedy. :(

They did, based on the pictures. There's a sofa, a tv, kitchen looks well used. Girl had no privacy or safe space in her own home.
