Gilgo Beach LISK Serial Killer, Rex Heuermann, charged with 6 murders, July 2023 #15

Let me get this right - are you saying RH DNA still has not been run through all Computers for a match ! ?

WTAF ?

Surely, if not - charge him with the rifle/gun hoarding ---- unregistered firearms etc. and get this done asap - COME ON!
He has not been convicted.

Yes, fascinating. It’s likely that RH’s markers form a nice 20+ cluster of identical/related sequences collected from murder victims across the US.

I have no doubt in my mind that once they have his DNA in CODIS or crack his encrypted photos that they will find way more crimes and stuff they never suspected him of it even looked at him for (yet).
If he obsessively searched for families of other potential victims he may have told law enforcement exactly which cases to start with.

What could this mean?
I'm not well versed having gotten to the LISK after RH's arrest.

BUFFALO — Ray Tierney, the Suffolk County District Attorney, was in Buffalo earlier this week.

Sources tell me he was here in part to interview the family of Melissa Barthelemy, a Buffalo native who was one of at least six women killed in the Gilgo Beach serial killings.

Tierney told reporters at an unrelated news conference Wednesday: “Obviously, we have a lot of cases in Suffolk One of those cases took us up to here.”

cont:

In the video it's suggested that Tierney visited the home of Melissa's mom to speak with her sister because her testimony will be so powerful during the trial.
That makes no sense to me because a trial is so far away.

Yes, they are felonies.
Excellent then. And as snarast suggested….. then a conviction for RH for one ‘CODIS-eligible’ offense would be ideal. And the sooner the better.

Depending on what is found from a CODIS check of the accused DNA, it just might make investigators job a lot more involved and also perhaps clarify or fill in some other timelines or connections for this individual? MOO

@dotr I saw your post in the last thread about the pizza place doing that promotion (I don't know how to bring your post forward so I linked an article here) - how disgusting - insensitive to the victims and just gross - if I lived there I would make sure to never give them my business (not aimed at you dotr)

“Most of the people here are relaxed,” the chef said. “If you go to Manhattan, you can’t make nobody happy. Always someone finds a problem, a way not to be happy. They don’t appreciate nothing funny.
That isn't even the pizzeria where he had the fateful slices. He was in Manhattan at work. The pizzeria in the article is in Queens. Some people have absolutely no moral compass.

One thought had is that if RH is responsible for the horrific murders of Peaches and her daughter in 1997 there is something even more particularly disturbing of the possibility of him killing a little girl the same year his daughter was born and only a year after he officially welcomed his stepson into his family.

JMO because the idea of murdering someone, especially so heartlessly and violently, is already mind-boggling to me but to kill a child too or too just can’t even fathom, especially when you have kids at home. Like you you mist be devoid of all empathy or soul at that point
I just want to preface my statement with what I say next DOES NOT make him a better person (no "but" because I do mean that...lol). Because there is not a definitive COD, and no obvious signs of trauma, I am with the camp that he did not physically murder her. IMO that defenseless baby was just left there and succumbed to the elements and or hunger/thirst.

Am i correctly remembering that something happened that caused LE had to suddenly arrest RH. Wasnt there reports of him stalking someone in a park?

"Heuermann was indicted and remanded for the first three murders. They made the strategic decision to make the arrest at that moment in time, because they were already surveilling him for about a year. They just didn't want anything to go wrong," he explained. "So they made that arrest, and in the meantime, they were investigating the fourth murder. They were waiting for the mitochondrial DNA analysis on the fourth murder."
ETA
(Cannot easily locate atm, but speculation for now, is that RH was still contacting SWs and possibly his wife had a trip forthcoming) LE did not want to take any chances, .imo, speculation.

Your memory matches mine as I recall a woman riding a bicycle (in a park near his home) who reported him popping up out the woods, very dirty, and more than one time. As I recall, he was close enough to see the photo of her boyfriend on her phone. RH kept trying to strike up a conversation. She was spooked enough she called her sister to come pick her up and she reported it to police -- IIRC.

That is good point and it does make me wonder why even kill or abandon the baby?

Of course, he absolutely shouldn’t have killed anyone at all but what threat could the baby have posed to him or anybody, in the case he is not the perp? What was the likelihood that baby would even be able to identify him in a lineup or help a sketch artist? I am guessing very low since the baby was only a toddler. Why not just drop her off at fire station, motel, corner of a gas station 7/11 or anywhere else? He managed to avoid cameras all this time why not do so again to let a child live? Why not just take a quick trip to NJ or wait for the next time he has to head to SC and drop her off somewhere alive at a site down there? Even if a baby could be linked to RH/the perp via DNA what were the chances they would be able to identify her across state lines in 1997?

IMO it is weird and disgusting/horrifying how he would take the risks of returning to a victim’s home to be spotted and recognized by both his car and appearance by her boyfriend and of calling a victim’s family members multiple times, to the point that LE was able to trace his location in the city and on LIRR and but he wouldn’t take one to spare a little girl

Accused Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann is slated to appear in court again on Tuesday, July 30.
"We expect a routine court appearance and discussions of discovery," a representative for Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney's Office said.
And "just in case", Judge Timothy Mazzei had made it that Heuermann is to be produced in person for every hearing, the representative said.

It's not illegal to own a bunch of rifles. I'm frustrated, too. But they've got to do everything legally and by the book. It would be a travesty for him to walk.
