Amoca, I am not a Nova Scotian but am a Canadian and understand what you wrote. Short term, the shock value with continue to resonate when people see trouble. However, I do believe that the basic human kindness that you describe will ultimately wash back over NS. The qualities you describe in...
As information continues to trickle out (and speculation flows quickly) I find myself going back and forth wondering how much of this was planned. When "they" were in the warehouse face timing with people, did he know in a few hours all he owned there would be in flames? Did the argument with...
I re-read the redacted article and noted details about the couple who were shot at and injured but got away. They saw a large structure on fire (the warehouse) and drove down to investigate. While going down Orchard Beach Drive they past the Gulenchyn house on fire with a "police car" in the...
The fact he burned his own residence and other structures would indicate he knew he would not be coming back, ever, and was laying waste to anything and anyone in his way. And yet......why go looking for others? The innocents?? And yet, even if this evil interlude were somehow...
TenBlue, I am not a "technical guy" so your difficulties in making corrections are something I can relate to. Computers see me coming and like to mess with me, stopping me from doing simple tasks.....or so it seems.
I don't think you need to back away or refrain from posting. All perspectives...
I do wish there was a single, concise narrative to this story. I know the whole story will come out in time but what "we know" to date is often contradictory. It is hard enough to explain and/or make sense of things without conflicting versions.
I saw that reference to Margaret Campbell and found out (via google) that it is Hyslop.
Another interesting thing......on page 13 21-12 it lists the fires with some redacted info but only one fire on Portapique Beach road. The Zahl/Thomas house is not listed there.
I found it interesting that Clinton Ellison was quoted "Clinton Ellison reported he was hiding in the woods because when he was walking on the beach with his brother Cory Ellison who was shot (redacted) and killed". (pg 14, 21.12)
From his tv interview, I thought he brother went off alone to...
What happened next is redacted from the document but she told police Wortman “poured gasoline all inside the cottage” and leading to the warehouse, “so Gabriel could burn that.” He also poured gas onto his cars and Jeep.
At some point, after returning to the residence (the cottage) the gunman...
Thank you Snoopster. With my kids off school anyway, and the rain here, and virus isolation, it sure does not feel like a "long weekend" by any means. Hopefully good weather will fix that!
I apologise for not being able to post a link but I have seen a map (greyish in colour with lots lines marked) and Ellison lived on Portapique Cr. closer to the "bottom" of the street. I just cannot find that source right now.
I did find this regarding the Tucks. “There’s some fiddle for ya”...
The Ellison boys heard a shot about 10. "Not so long after that" their father appeared. They asked him about the gun shot, then went outside and saw the glow from the fire. That would suggest to me the fire was well established at the scene and to me, the shooter would have left the scene by...
might not have been the gunman, but a real RCMP officer investigating the scene?
Tilly I have wondered that myself, but did not want to voice that as it might possibly come across as diminishing what Clinton went thru.
Understandably his timeline is vague when he reports they heard a gunshot...
I do believe that the 10:01 911 call indicates the time when people became aware something was going on, but not necessarily when things started. I re-watched Clinton Ellison's interview and a couple of things brought further questions to me.
* his brother went to check out the fire, and then...
The man found with gunshot wounds I have also seen reported as walking or driving. One source (sorry, can't find it right now) said he had a female passenger with him. What struck me as odd was that if he was shot, why wasn't she? And if she wasn't, why wasn't she driving?
Always more...
Just thinking out loud here. We know where the idiot was by the carnage. But I have trouble figuring out the sequence of events. The roads there (on a map) show he must have doubled back at some point. What field did he drive across and exit to the main road well past first responders? Lots...
Thank you for that video. When the car turned around and Portipique and headed toward Debert, I saw people walking along the shoulder and thought how easily the gunman might have dealt with them, just out walking.
I just wonder if he had a plan and what it was. He doubled back on Sunday to...
The following paragraph is written as "musing aloud" and is not a criticism of the Forbes. Hopefully I get the wording correct.
I can understand the frustration at the attempt to get the police involved and getting nowhere, and then possibly making it worse for the g/f. Not a pleasant...
It must be awful to have experienced the idiot first hand and then see what unfolded, even from a distance. And to know your old home was targeted would inevitably make you think "That could have been me."
As for the community not believing her, I understand her anguish over that. What she...
