In response to Karinna and dr, I believe there's a strong possibility LE have corroborated the 2 speeding vehicles on the tennis club's CCTV, which I believe is situated at the T intersection at the end of Laurel St (the cars were approaching that end). On Google maps you can see a CCTV camera...

Just confirming here (to my own question) it looks like Chapman told the local police officer's SIL the night William disappeared, so it seems he thought he'd reported it. But that didn't actually get to police officially so it was March/Apr 2015 before he was interviewed. EDITED TO ADD: Or...

Chasing / following / getting outta dodge...there's different ways to look at that. But definitely - two cars at speed one after the other, to me, seems more likely that they are linked rather than two individual cars that don't have anything to do with each other.
