PA PA - Ray Gricar, 59, former district attorney, Bellefonte, 15 Apr 2005 - #17

The investigation started in 2009, with the initial report being made in 2008. It was referred to Clinton County authorities, who passed it to Centre County, who passed it to the AG's Office in 2/09. The Moulton Report, commissioned by the AG's Office, did investigate LE's investigation...

There are several books, but there are also a number of in depth news articles, even scholarly papers on scandal or parts of the scandal. There is "Wounded Lions," a retired PSU professor who writes on sports history.

Most of it is over, but a libel suit filed by the prosecutors against former AG Kane was just dismissed. You still have people running around trying to get the Paterno statue back up. There could be more victims, but those may not be pursuing anything.

I would question that. Ganim's story was there was a criminal investigation into Sandusky. I doubt if they would have run a story just based on an allegation. You are correct on the timeline. The grand jury was convened in the summer of 2009. By the early winter of 2010, they had...

Except, that was no where near the end of the story. Spanier had exhausted his appeals last year. He completed his term last August. This had massive media coverage, dozens of books written about it, and people are still talking about it.

It was just about 5 1/2 years between RFG being informed of the 1998 incident and when he announced that he was planning to retire. It was more than a year between the announcement and the disappearance. There were no "quality latent prints" in the car. That would not mean that there were...

Also, the car was not wiped clean. There were no readable fingerprints, but there was no evidence of a wipe down.

First, RFG announced his retirement 7 years before the scandal broke. He announced that he would retire as DA, and not practice, in 2004. In 2003, Gricar was sanctioned by a judge for basically tampering with a defense expert witness. D.A. accused of misconduct This may have been part of the...

At this point, why has this not come out? You would have to talking about something bigger than Watergate.

PA PA - Ray Gricar, 59, former district attorney, Bellefonte, 15 Apr 2005 - #17

Just to be clear, district attorneys have a great deal of discretion in prosecuting. They can decline to prosecute a solid case for just about any reason. There is no evidence that RFG or these prosecutors in other counties (and I have met several) did anything illegal or unethical (in terms...

Freeh was not in LE after 2001. He was not hired by PSU until 2011, and he was not the only candidate for the investigative counsel. The incident that was initially reported to LE and DPW (DHS), was not reported until 2009. They did not discover a PSU connection until late 2010 RFG would...

First, there would have been a record. Second, the PA OAG would have to conclude that there was no case, after there was an investigation. OAG has investigators.

PA PA - Ray Gricar, 59, former district attorney, Bellefonte, 15 Apr 2005 - #17

In that circumstance, he could have legitimately turned the case over to the PA Attorney General's Office. Statute permits two situations where a DA can turn a case over to the PA OAG. 1. Conflict of interest. 2. Lack of resources to prosecute. In 2005, there were 7 prosecutors , I...

In fairness, the people that claimed that 2001 was reported were Paterno apologist, who saw exonerating the PSU 3 as means to that end. Curley and Schultz plead guilty, and indicated that neither DPW nor the police were contacted in 2001.

PA PA - Ray Gricar, 59, former district attorney, Bellefonte, 15 Apr 2005 - #17

Respectfully snipped. No, in 2001, neither the University Police, nor DPW, County C&YS, nor anyone in LE was investigating Sandusky. It was never reported, and that failure to report resulted in the convictions of Spanier, Curley, and Schultz. I have no problem saying that RFG made a bad...

PA PA - Ray Gricar, 59, former district attorney, Bellefonte, 15 Apr 2005 - #17

Let me put it this way. In 1998, RFG had two victims to testify. He also had Sandusky admitting to contact with the child. In 2011, the AG's Office had one witness, and convicted Sandusky of one felony and two misdemeanor charges.

PA PA - Ray Gricar, 59, former district attorney, Bellefonte, 15 Apr 2005 - #17

Nelson Rockefeller died in the presence of a woman who was not his wife. It was a heart attack, not murder, and I believe she called an aid. I have suggested a scenario where RFG have met a woman, one that was married, had an SO, or form some reason did not wish to be seen publicly with him...

Here is a quote from Chief Shawn Weaver: "“I believe that his chances — or anyone’s chances — of becoming a homicide victim in that particular area and time of day on a weekend in a rather populated area were very minimal. That leaves two possibilities — walk away or suicide. The chances of...
