Laura Babcock Murder Trial 10.23.17 - Day 1, Opening Statements

I attended a number of the pre-trial motions, and also the morning today. Millard and his tactics leave me feeling ill. Just MO.

Laura Babcock: Dellen Millard & Mark Smich charged w/ Murder in the First Degree #3

Illustrative of his attitude of invincibility, and cocky self-assuredness that he could continue to manipulate everyone around him - even his apparent nearest and dearest - with complete success and zero consequence. (imo)

Laura Babcock: Dellen Millard & Mark Smich charged w/ Murder in the First Degree #3

Agreed. I was quite surprised by the nature, scope and quantity of what is deemed inadmissable.

Laura Babcock: Dellen Millard & Mark Smich charged w/ Murder in the First Degree #3

It does seem prejudicial, and the wording leaves something to be desired; the evidence must provide reasonable likelihood of conviction. Her statement sounds absolute. In any case, her statement is consistent with the premise of the DI, w.r.t. procedures required: "...a legal memorandum...

    GUILTY Canada - Terry, 27, & Hailey Blanchette, 2, Blairmore, AB, 14 Sept 2015 #3

From personal observations, non-therapeutic use of stimulant drugs, or using too high a dosage, can cause severe mood swings, including anger and rage. This can be magnified when combined with alcohol.

    Canada - Terry, 27, & Hailey Blanchette, 2, Blairmore, AB, 14 Sept 2015 #2

I agree. This is the first trial I've followed that had a full confession. Normally the crown's opening is more comprehensive, but with so much left to "we'll let you hear it from him", it really does leave a giant piece of the picture missing.

Bosma Murder Trial - Weekend Discussion #16

But were these messages part of the "orphaned" grouping? The tweets had them presented as cohesive correspondence with sender and recipient identified, as I had interpreted. ETA: Looks like this was further clarified a few posts down...

Bosma Murder Trial - Weekend Discussion #16

Normally one sits on furniture, particularly when said furniture is a couch or stools. Typically, when one is sitting fireside, he/she is enjoying i.e. watching the fire. ?

Bosma Murder Trial - Weekend Discussion #16

I'm not following... I remembered and described it as being furniture for fireside sitting/watching. When I pulled up the tweet re the text, it was "fireside furniture". What else do you use "fireside furniture" for? It's furniture for sitting around a fire. What's the context change?

Bosma Murder Trial - Weekend Discussion #16

But wasn't the accompanying text content re. the camping furniture along the lines of "for our fireside sitting/watching", followed by a photo of a frying sausage?

Bosma Murder Trial - Weekend Discussion #15

I don't have anything readily available, no. The comment was moo. This is bugging me now, though - so I'm going to go digging. As an aside - Does media have access to the exhibit files before they are made available to the general public? I feel like we've seen some photos in media in...

Bosma Murder Trial - Weekend Discussion #15

I believe there was a men's sneaker circled in the exhibit photo of the closet. moo. Perhaps it is related to CN's AATF trial. Again, moo.

    Bosma Murder Trial 05.17.16 - Day 50

Hi brightii - thank you. I did read a lot into those texts, and assumed the worst, given the context. They were pretty off-putting, and beyond disgusting and tasteless. I couldn't imagine what would be planted in the Bosmas' brains after reading or seeing that, between the imagery and the...
