Can you elaborate on what you mean by what early 90s SGF was like? I know there was/is a drug culture, but it didn't run the town or anything. I didn't realize it would have been related.
Photos of two persons of interest have been released: (photos at link)

Hopefully, someone will recognize them.
The Josh Rubin case was seemingly going nowhere. But recently photos were released of persons of interest, and they are relatively clear. Someone out there has to know who these people are.

Maybe it did not occur to her until the reality of having her own child set in? How can you really predict your feelings about how you will feel about a future child? Especially post partum? It's all just hypothesizing until you actually have a baby and reality sets in.
I don't think it's...
I am so, so sorry to hear the news as well. I had really hoped he had taken off. This is such terrible news. What a senseless tragedy. Some people are truly horrible. They killed a wonderful person for some money. I hope his killers are brought to justice.
Obviously I don't know this child. But I live in Brooklyn with a 7 year old. And I can tell you many 7 year olds around here are pretty street savvy. They are city kids. There are several kids in my neighborhood that run around alone regularly at 7, and this is not uncommon in this area. I don't...
No doubt there is a lot of danger out there. And we have no idea the level of street smarts he has. But as the parent of a 7 year old in Brooklyn, I know it's very possible he is familiar with NYC and the subways and streets assuming he is in foster care in the same city in which he lives. Kids...
I posted a tip to gothamist, and they posted the story.

I hope more media outlets follow suit.
Have they talked to the bio mother and family? Has the child tried to contact them? If he's running, he has to have a place in mind to go or people to turn to. He wouldn't just hit the streets, would he?
Almost always in NYC apartment buildings, this is a small room with recycling and a trash cute that opens with a small door--not that different from the way a post office box chute works--and that sends all the trash from different floors to one room in the basement.
I would have assumed...
Exactly. I agree that he sounds severely depressed and overwhelmed with grief. But why not just kill himself? How does adding 3 more major, horrific losses to his already overwhelming losses help?
What a senseless tragedy. Frankie Jacobson and her sons were gorgeous.
I just saw it and was coming to post. Thanks, Snuf! I looked last night and saw nothing.
And then I found the link to Kathee's blog

Have their been any updates? I could not find any. Did they ever match him with his ID or find his family?
I ran across James A. Skidmore, and the age and location is on. But without a sketch, it's just a guess.
Thoughts?

Or maybe he lost it dancing and having a good time. It's quite the atmosphere. It's very possible he lost it. Or was carrying as little info on him as possible. I know when I go to shows, I don't carry a lot of stuff, esp important stuff, with me. Especially if I am going to dance, dance, dance...
It's very possible someone gave him a ticket. In the lot, you can hold up a single finger, and that indicates you are looking for a ticket. It's someone looking for a miracle. Like "I need a miracle [everyday]." And it means you are looking for a free ticket to the show.
But I am not sure it...
