If she wanted to leave the road to avoid being seen by an oncoming car, she might have chosen what looked to be a clearing in the forest (judging from the faint reflection of the snow in the near-darkness) and then sat down on a rock to rest, succumbed to hypothermia, etc. And if the...

Two thoughts: 1) If the accident was staged, does that mean someone was riding around with a deployed airbag and fractured windshield, bring the car to the place where it was abandoned? Seems very doubtful. 2) Wonder if there is any evidence in the car today that someone was smoking a...

I don't think we know that she was "so adamant." IIRC, the only source for her being adamant, or for saying she didn't need help, for saying she was calling AAA, etc. etc. was the SBD; another witness, the PI, claims the SBD told different stories at different times. At this point, I don't...

I've driven that route many times and I would disagree with the word "abundance." There are some houses, some of which might have had a light on. But there are many, many stretches where there would be no light in sight, especially after Bradley Hill Road. If we've both driven the route, we...

I agree. I agree with your second point, which is why I judge Renner's reporting regarding your first point to be necessary and valuable. Since we don't know what MM did just before or just after the accident, the only way we can address the problem of what she was thinking is to go back to...

A lot of virtual ink being spilled over which reporter is right and which is wrong. If Renner reports that LE said to him that the all the alcohol was found, I'm willing to believe that that is what LE said to him. Is it true? Maybe. And if a different reporter writes that a different LE source...

I agree, everything Renner posts is suspect. That's why, he says, he posts it, asking for info to verify or contradict. That's the whole point of his blog, according to him. Did you notice that he has corrected some apparent errors based on feedback such as yours? I'm glad he's doing this...

I recently drove the route and had no Verizon signal once I got more than a couple of miles from the Connecticut River. Back at the time we're talking about, I'm guessing the entire route would have been a dead zone.

In my judgment, we won't be able to know what is meaningless until the case is solved (if it ever is). I'm sure glad we never do anything like that on THIS blog! :floorlaugh:

I suppose that a mention of her father, if she made one, might be less memorable than a mention of wanting to disappear -- and the latter memory would certainly be reinforced by her subsequent disappearance. I don't see anything odd here.

Thoughts/questions about the tip that Renner published about a MM car loan account being open and current several years after her disappearance: Until MM is declared dead or a court intervenes, I assume her accounts would stay open. A court would intervene only if someone (a family member)...

Couple of thoughts: -- I'm reading a lot of comments regarding MM's decision-making process immediately after the second accident. The mostly likely truth is that she was significantly impaired by alcohol and perhaps by concussion, which means that logic isn't a very good guide in determining...

I judge that Renner isn't selecting evidence for publication with an eye toward proving a hypothesis. I imagine he's discovering whatever he can and publishing whatever he finds, pausing only long enough to do some preliminary verification. That's what an investigative reporter does. There won't...
