Australia - Russell Hill & Carol Clay Murdered While Camping - Wonnangatta Valley, 2020 #8

Well my thought is that there is little to no evidence beyond reasonable doubt for an initial murder. Two unfortunate accidents in one go is statistically ridiculous, so it would be very reasonable to conclude that atleast one intentional killing took place.

Australia - Russell Hill & Carol Clay Murdered While Camping - Wonnangatta Valley, 2020 #8

So, I am thinking it should surely come back as hung jury on one count and guilty on other. My theory would be that he probably got in a heated fight with Russell and killed him but proving intent and motive are hard (hung), but after Russell was obviously dead, he had motive and intent to...

Australia - Russell Hill & Carol Clay Murdered While Camping - Wonnangatta Valley, 2020 #8

So I am at a loss as to why Manslaughter is off the table. I would have thought that a reasonable conclusion/theory might be that Greg and Russ got in argument, Greg killed him but intent can't be proved so manslaughter, but then greg had to remove the only witness (intent)- so Murder. Why is...

Australia - Russell Hill & Carol Clay Murdered While Camping - Wonnangatta Valley, 2020 #7

yeah but that doesn't mean it won't be his defence. How else can you explain two dead and claim you're innocent? He obviously knows that he is done for the body disposal etc.....so to lessen the sentence and hopefully plea deal down to x1 manslaughter + lesser charges of disposing body etc.

Australia - Russell Hill & Carol Clay Murdered While Camping - Wonnangatta Valley, 2020 #7

Not sure if this has been raised before but I guarantee this will age well. His defence: RH used his gun to kill CC, then GL and RH got in a scuffle over the gun and it discharged killing RH. GL will claim he is only guilty of acts after that- disposing of bodies and trying to cover his tracks...

    ***GUILTY***The Verdict Waiting Room #3

Great result. JUSTICE. Thoughts to the family and the poor girls. Hopefully they can somehow lead a normal life. Now, as GBC couldn't help himself and got on the stand, can he face further charges for perjury? Also, can someone tell me about appeals processes in QLD. Can he only appeal if...

    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 8th July - Trial Day 16

Sorry if already discussed today but just logged on. Did I read earlier today the GBC was leaning back in his chair at some stage and was taking notes of Fuller's beautiful closing remarks? I haven't heard of him doing any of this during the trial. Either way, it is a bit late now to be taking...

If he walks- God forbid, the Dickies should sue in civil court for the life insurance as the sacles tip to balance of probability.

ABC had the 'Find my cheating husband' app, whilst Gerard had 'Find my mistress' app.

Personally I don't think the phone would have held any incriminating evidence but Gerard in his panic just thought he better get rid of anything that may. Seriously, his undoing is his stupidity in calling the cops in the morning. He should have headed off to work and explained that he...

I suppose the most telling thing though was his lack of reaction to the news that the constable had 'located' Allison's phone. It doesn't matter if it was their or not to me- as the argument is that anyone could have put it there if it was in fact there at all. The clincher is that if he thought...

I am guessing that for point 2- why would you reverse park. I suspect so that you could clean up without someone coming up by surprise from behind you. Remember there was blood to clean and toys to load. Who takes the time to reverse park when you are rushing around looking for a dead wife-...

Correct BB. Terribly sad case. Just one of an ever increasing number of parents killing their kids in an act of 'ultimate' revenge. I am anti capital punishment, but these type of killings really test my resolve on that stance.

GBC Trial General Discussion Thread #4

I am not sure how things run in South Africa but this couldn't happen at this stage of the trial. Basically 'insanity' pleas are obvious to both the defence and prosecution and usually a jury isn't even needed in these cases. From just getting a few bits of information from a news report about a...

    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 2nd July - Trial Day 14, Week 3

I CANNOT believe this fool, actually passed a note to the jury. Oh Lord, I didn't think he could top the business card to the doctor. If he gets off this, he needs his own reality TV show. Have no idea of the premise of the show but surely a network can see the ratings he would deliver.

    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 2nd July - Trial Day 14, Week 3

I am curious as to how many books will be published about this case when he gets the book thrown at him? The note to the jury has to be included. I wonder if the judge will ever release the contents when he hands down his sentence.

Hi LB1, I can't say I am an 'expert' in narcissism or much else for that matter. What I can say is that I have worked in Forensic psychiatry for ten years. I spent a year at a prison where my role with my team was to screen and assess every prisoner that came into custody for mental illness...

    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 2nd July - Trial Day 14, Week 3

yeah provocation was replaced with 'defensive homicide' which has been in the news in the past few weeks as they are changing it again as this was being exploited by thugs. One chased his girlfriend and killed her and pleaded this 'defensive homicide' and was found guilty of it. It was...

    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 2nd July - Trial Day 14, Week 3

I am a psychiatric nurse and work in the forensic system. Narcissists are an absolute nightmare to deal with in the forensic setting as they are in real life. I have got a little insight here to share so you can get an insight into how a true narcissist actually views themselves and the...
