Yes, in this article it says, "Mr Agius said the Crown case was circumstantial and relied on motive." (Bolding was by the journalist, not me).
"Motive left no doubt Mr Rayney killed his wife, he said."
Motive is key to this case so I'm expecting to hear more about what Corinne was saying...
Good work! Between the news from the trial and our online searching and hopefully some 'insider' knowledge, we're all making some progress here...getting to the bottom of this mystery. We hope!
Clare O'Brien Left WA After Rayney Charged With Phone Tapping
This article is from April 4, 2008. Apparently Clare O'Brien left her address in Perth with no forwarding address.
Excerpt:
"Ms O'Brien, who was also a lawyer in the Navy Reserve, is believed to have told fellow officers last...
Hi mouse. Was it you that posted this article (below) before?
Here it is again, anyway, for those who missed it first time around. It's about the other people alleged to be involved in the phone interception at Rayney house...
Check out 'Lloyd's Lawyers'
I wonder if Claire O'Brien and Paul O'Brien are related? Connected with his phone-tapping charges.

Hey, good sleuthing Dodo! :D :woohoo:
32km/h was the speed that the car was doing when its computer recorded its first error message, approximately two and a half minutes after it's ignition was started. But the revs were at about 1400 in Corinne's car at the time of the first fault message...
Aargh! That was drastic! At least the car was still under warranty.
I wonder if Corinne's engine was completely broken when they assessed the damage to the car?
Lol, yes, it's pretty funny to imagine the dance teacher doing some moves.
Maybe it was to prove he knew what he was talking about with regard to the scratches on the boots and to display the kinds of feet movements to the judge?
I think it's kind of touching too, to think of Corinne...
Hi mouse - Oh, thanks for relating your experience of a major oil shortage in your car.
Yes, I'm wondering if Corinne's car was manual or automatic. It's possible that it could not even be pushed if it's gears weren't functional. Possibly couldn't get it into 'neutral' to push it along manually.
This article, entitled, 'A Man In Limbo' was written in October 2008, before LR was charged. It describes how life changed for LR after the police named him the 'prime and only suspect'.
Linda Black (LR's bridge partner) and other lawyers are quoted in the story.
LR's arrest on...
This article from today contains a touching glimpse into Corinne's enjoyment of dancing. It's very sad to think the video was shot only days before she was killed.
Yes, another similarity between her and Allison Baden-Clay...
Oh yes - we are thinking the same way!
And hopefully the judge is one step ahead of we amateur sleuths!
Ah well, it's a lovely day to be in the garage (if you are in WA, that is...am not sure what the rest of the country's weather is like today).
I should do a bit of housework too lol...
Yep - exactly what I said in my post above yours.
LR was a State Prosecutor, then a barrister so he is skilled at thinking, planning and strategising.
His wife, an intelligent woman who would know him better than anyone, described him as 'a snake'- which makes me think he was very good at...
I agree - it was too much of a coincidence for the car to have been unintentionally left in Kershaw Street.
In my opinion it was a planned act in order to try and frame someone...but I don't think the person being framed was LR.
I still think there is more chance that LR killed his wife...
I don't think LR would choose a 'hit man' to do his alleged dirtywork. I think the Kalazjich case would be well known to LR. Hit men can 'talk'.
Am thinking of what Shari Paradise said about LR saying to her about why would he murder his wife and leave her car in a street where he knew...
Mr Agius apparently thinks like you do, mouse detective...that LR 'scoped out' the burial place beforehand.
Regarding the digging implement, I wonder if it was a shovel or spade and whether it was also the murder implement.
Apparently blood from an injury to the back of Corinne's head was...
