One more thought, in the community we were in single women, even as old as 40 really were not given place in the community and many were treated like children in their parents home. I am not saying this was the case here but it is that way in some communities. Still not an excuse for her actions

I don't see it as an excuse. More if a why this happened. We just left a uber conservative group and while not everyone was trying to keep up appearances there were families that did. And it was more like Stepford Wives than a reality of walking the Christian walk. There is no excuse for what...

I, personally, loved the jury's questions...they showed me that they aren't looking at JA as a DV victim at all. They asked about facts...and how they fit, or didn't fit...not how she felt... It seemed they were questioning her rationale for doing different things...

this is sounding more like a victim impact statement...

Probably coming in late...and I do think she is trying to come up with some story..but I have a daughter that is very near sighted and she takes her glasses off to read.

This is why I am so proud of a friend of mine, within 20 minutes of hearing her daughter's claim she called me and within a few hours the wife and children were out of the house and he was arrested that evening when he got home from work. He is serving time in prison now. It hasn't been easy...

Just read through the letters...creepy yes...and "Jer" has a problem...all the letters sound like someone searching for attention and acceptance. It is so much easier for someone like that to search out those that are weaker, more vulnerable to prey upon... When will we as a nation wake up...

If Josh couldn't have it his way he wasn't going to let anybody have it. He was a selfish, cowherd. I cannot believe this has happened. My heart hurts/aches...I cried so much yesterday.

I know that institutionalizing and keeping children like this in a drives state is not the answer. But is this any better for them. Is their quality of life really better. My heart aches, what can be done? No easy answers. But we have got to do something.
