I'll follow up on this and see what I can find out, but it might take awhile. I'm hoping CBS "Sunday Morning" might be interested as we get closer to the publication date of the book. Cubby's suggestion in the Media thread about "Without a Trace" was also excellent. Other ideas, anyone?
Tonight the show featured 23 cases. They spent one minute each on four cases, 20-30 seconds each on 19 cases, then briefly (in 45 seconds) showed the images of all 23 cases again at the end of the show.
Here it's on Saturdays at 3:35 a.m. on the New York CBS station (WCBS, channel 2) and Sundays at 3:35 a.m. on the Philadelphia CBS station (KYW, channel 3). According to the stations' Web sites, it's a 30 minute program; I don't know how many cases they do in that time.
I worked in TV news for 25 years, and while organized letter writing campaigns usually had very little effect on our news coverage, I'd like to make a suggestion here. Oprah's producers solicit show suggestions on her Web site, and if you think Anna's case and the Websleuths efforts would make a...
When I spoke with a director of the California DOJ forensic lab in May or June, I was told that
1. Even though Anna's DNA was not obtained from her personal items, the DNA samples submitted by Annasmom and her brothers were enough to determine a positive match if compared to Anna's DNA, and...
Hi Websleuthers, sorry I haven't posted too frequently the last couple of weeks (work has been brutal), but I finally got a chance to read everything here and get up to date.
I talk with Annasmom daily, mostly small talk just to show her my support, and I can tell you two things:
1. She...
I just talked with Annasmom and, while we're all tired of waiting, it would be the absolute worst thing we could do if we try to apply pressure though media attention now. If that happens and LE clams up, we'll be out of the loop completely until they get good and ready to tell us something. At...
We're down south with my son (Anna's cousin) for a long weekend, always checking the forum first thing if we're out more than two hours and hoping that the recent events -- personal visit from the lead investigator, involvement of politicians, sudden unavailability of everyone involved -- are...
Hmmm. That could explain a lot -- his untraceability and use of alias(es), his exposure and subsequent appropriation of bits and pieces of various philosophies to fit his purpose (as fictional gambler Brett Maverick said, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people...
I hate to say it, but maybe the person who filled out the death certificate started writing the death date in the birth state slot and was too lazy to change it when realizing the error. It wouldn't surprise me.
Since the Lindbergh case, kidnapping is a federal crime regardless of whether or not state lines are crossed. Do you know how involved is the FBI is in this matter? If it's considered a state case, there are (at least) two state legal structures to contend with, including the whole matter of...
Just to put things in geographic perspective, we live in New Jersey (Mercer County, bordering the Delaware River) and my wife had a doctor's appointment today in Doylestown, less than an hour away (Bucks County borders the other side of the river). Please let us know if there's any research we...
If I give personal information to my doctor or accountant, I expect it to stay confidential. If I put pages from my diary on a supermarket or church bulletin board, I don't. The Internet is like a public bulletin board half a billion people walk by. You did a kindness by making her realize that...
Sherlock, I hope you don't let this negative reaction spoil what is, in fact, an excellent and creative idea and strategy. In another context her reaction would be downright funny, expecting privacy while voluntarily posting loads of personal information in a medium freely accessible by...
The story I hope we can get out is one of hope and perseverance, and how a virtual community has sprung up in cyberspace to offer support and assistance. But as many politicians and others have found out to their chagrin, despite your best efforts to try to manage the message, it's beyond your...
The group purports to be "a registered non-profit Canadian charity," so maybe they would donate their services. However, approaching them would be a bit tricky, and certain relevant information should be withheld that may affect their determining the right (or wrong) "magic number" (if they...
