I went back the the recent press conference and the Police Chief said on at least two occasions that their hope was to find the 'bodies.' Would he say that if the remains were believed to be destroyed?
My understanding is that he has been arrested and taken into custody for the murder charges - he is waiting to stand before a judge to formally answer to the charges. That is the process. It should be happening soon.
My heart is broken...I can't even imagine how the family, especially the parents and brothers of little Nathan, are feeling. The image of him singing at his Kindergarden graduation is etched in my mind...the tassel of his hat dangling at times into his face, and him covering up his eyes ever so...
Wow Otto...you are talented! :)
Someone above referenced tunnel vision and the risk of investigators going down that path.
I'm wondering if it is not timely for the Police to release other pieces of information to the public - that won't jeopardize their case; that is, if they have anything...
So many what ifs and unknowns and speculation...
I think until there are any new developments that are made public, can there be a tendency to look too much into what we do know, sensationalizing is what comes to mind...
I come from a small community, and in the absence of all facts, people...
If the car had been impounded by the police, it would still be there. Maybe the car was in the garage to create parking space for the buyers coming and going that weekend.
Yes, thanks Otto, that makes sense...that he perhaps saw the bankruptcy pending and was just preparing. I was curious about timing...
There's just a term that keeps coming to mind when I think about this case, and that is "the perfect storm" - like there were all these co-occurring factors...
I understand all too well why people do winters down South, I'm from the East. I was more curious about timing of the decision....with an active business and employees, were they still planning on moving to Mexico or was the decision recent, i.e., after it went under - which would have been a...
If ALs recent business venture just very recently folded ( a couple of weeks before the night/day Al, KL and NO went missing) I wonder when they made the decision to live between Mexico and Edmonton?
It's clear they would have sold their home last December, with perhaps the home purchase in...
By going back and looking in garbage bins in the home and at landfills where their previous garbage would have been dumped, I think they are also looking for clues from a period of time before the night in question.
I'm not feeling sorry for him. I'm more interested in the facts of the case than going on pure speculation and personal judgement and emotions.
Frail is a physical attribute...that's what the reporter saw in terms of his size. He wasn't described as a stocky man in good physical shape. My...
Good morning from here on the East Coast...Nathan and his family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
Read this article from the Calgary Herald this morning:
"Courtroom waiting game a cold, hard reality for family members"...
Providing a landline number is standard practice across all jurisdictions when it comes to conditions of bail. It ensures when police contact you, you are at the physical location. Nothing unusual.
Yes, a breach of the bail conditions and likely a return to jail until his next court appearance. This is just MO and an intuitive gut feeling, but I don't think he is THE guy...likely some involvement, but not as much as what we may think.
Police and the judicial system have to be so careful...any signs of being unfair or not following due process or procedure could sabotage the whole investigation. Guilty people have been set free because of process not followed.
It's important for them not to make decisions based on...
But his charges don't warrant stiffer conditions, IMO. The charges, as we know them, are not related to the missing person's case. I think these conditions fit the charges...and also give Police a chance to monitor his activity at the same time.
Typically, a person being released on bail and with conditions, has to indicate an address/residence. Maybe that's what his lawyer and the Crown will be working on now. I'm sure they don't want that information public.
Valerie Fortnay -Calgary Herald Twitter, court appearance of DG
"Man accompanying Rod O'Brien says he is Al, son of Alvin Liknes. #yyc #amberalert"
Al is also the brother in law of DG. IMO, this not only shows a united front by the O'Brien and Liknes families, but also sends a serious message...
