I agree with both of you - heartbroken for Buster but hoping he is able to salvage something positive out of this long term. I am a lifelong SC resident and so grateful for Judge Newman and his presence in this trial.
It’s likely that the city’s lawyer advised against firing him before the investigation is complete - otherwise it could open the district up to even more lawsuits. I suspect it could be spun as admitting fault or guilt if they fired him now.
This isn't necessarily unusual; this kind of thing happens with new computer systems all the time and it sounds like they will be providing a resolution soon.
