Deaths of Male College Students-General Discussion #2

My gut feeling says that it was very much not an accident. I'm going to keep looking into this one until I'm proven wrong.

There is no trench near the cement area. Even right beneath it, it's still no more than six inches-ish. You can clearly see the bottom (And this is a disgusting pond) for about three-feet from the shoreline. It's maybe ankle-to-mid-calf deep that whole time. The cement area was the first place...

I've talked to more people about the smiley at Ithaca. It wasn't even a hoax - it's been there since September. It's just a bad coincidence.

SuziQ - Yes, the part by the cement box is the only place where the embankment is steep enough that one could conceivably tumble down. I don't know for sure where he went in. Only thing is, though, when I was down there earlier - even right there, the water seems really really shallow. I...

Alright, so I just walked down and completely around the pond where Will Jacobson was recovered. Turns out, there IS a foot path that goes around it on the road-side as well as the other side, but it's still incredibly unlikely to fall in from there. In addition, I had been remembering the...

My first thought in these cases has always been stun gun. In addition - think about it. With the water doing what water does to a body, who's to say that the small marks (which can be hard to see on a body that HASN'T been underwater for days/weeks) would even be visible at all? I know William...

Randal - I saw that too. Copy-cat or not, the smiley face is creepy ****. And I feel like the fact that the school just cleaned it up, and didn't notify us - nor presumably the police (Hell, legally, they'd have to notify us of something like that, wouldn't they?) Disquiets me even more. This...

This is exactly why I think they've ruled out foul play so ludicrously early in the Jacobson case. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it had a lot to do with the fact that the body was found ON CAMPUS. As soon as he was found, I started hearing whispers about the 'smiley face killer' all over the...

I truly, truly doubt the involvement of any kind of satanist/anything else around here. A group of sick people, perhaps - but satanists...not likely. This is a little hippie town. Hemp clothes and organic foods and whatnot.

Not at all. It's not a big campus (~6000 students), and it's as a rule very liberal-thinking. Closest you'll come is the occasional wiccan, but that's few-and-far-between as well. Religion of any kind isn't a terribly big thing here.

The buoy was placed there when they found him - presumably as a marker of where he was found. There wasn't a tip, we received notice yesterday that there would be divers on campus today to check the lakes/ponds on campus - it was just part of the search for him.

I don't know the exact reason - no. I'll talk to a couple of people I know who were there, though, see if they know a reason. I know it's certainly not strange for there to be random themed parties, though. "Anything but clothes" is a favorite here, but costume parties aren't out of the ordinary.

I'm going to see if I can get down to the pond maybe tomorrow and take a look around, see if any of it makes any more sense when I'm actually standing down there. But I can say - I have taken that exact path many times, and frankly, it seems absolutely ridiculous that a person could drown in...

I'm a student at Ithaca College, and the path he was taking home is consistent with where he was coming from and where he was trying to go. Also, police seem to have (rather quickly) ruled out foul play in the matter. Not sure how much stock I put in what they rule out, but nevertheless, it's...
