Found Deceased UK - Sarah Everard, 33, London - Clapham Common area, 3 March 2021 *Arrests* #14

Hi all, First time on WS for a long time. Devastated by this case. Sarah was my age, in a similar kind of job. I lived in London until lockdown 1 and would frequently walk home and about in the dark. Lived on an ex-council estate that non-locals would probably call quite dodgy. So many...

UK - Helen Almey, 39, & Martin Griffiths, 48, Duffield, Derbyshire, 1 Jan 2020 *Arrest*

God, this is harrowing. My friend left a coercive relationship in the autumn and is currently in a refuge. I honestly think if he found where she was, he'd kill her. I think this is what happened here, an abusive man clawing back control. IMO

GUILTY NEW ZEALAND - Grace Millane, 22, British backpacker, Auckland, 1 Dec 2018 #3

Just woke up and saw the news! (I actually woke up a couple of times in the night and checked, not deliberately but some kind of nervous anticipation.) It's so bittersweet, but ultimately I'm so pleased. The prosecution put together a fantastic case. Now to go back and read what happened...

Found Deceased NEW ZEALAND - Grace Millane, 22, British backpacker, Auckland, 1 Dec 2018 *Arrest* #2

Ok, it's nearly 3am here and I have work at 10. Should have been asleep hours ago! Will catch up in the morning. Night all!

Found Deceased NEW ZEALAND - Grace Millane, 22, British backpacker, Auckland, 1 Dec 2018 *Arrest* #2

Oh I don't know.. maybe he sat on her face and pinned her shoulders and arms down on her chest with his knees. Like he did to the witness The defence are doing their very best to say what he didn't do, but haven't actually said what he did do. IMO

Found Deceased NEW ZEALAND - Grace Millane, 22, British backpacker, Auckland, 1 Dec 2018 *Arrest* #2

This is infuriating. So she wasn't pinned down and she didn't defend herself? She just lay there and let him suffocate her? Right.

Found Deceased NEW ZEALAND - Grace Millane, 22, British backpacker, Auckland, 1 Dec 2018 *Arrest* #2

God this is weak. Grace's boyfriend stated that she knew about safety. The woman from a few days prior testified saying she thought she was going to die when he sat on her and suffocated her out of the blue. The guy who said she was "naive" on whiplr hadn't actually met her. I don't think...

Found Deceased NEW ZEALAND - Grace Millane, 22, British backpacker, Auckland, 1 Dec 2018 *Arrest* #2

He didn't place his hands on her neck. He compressed her veins/arteries for 5-10 minutes! Even after she stopped wiggling and fell unconscious!

Found Deceased NEW ZEALAND - Grace Millane, 22, British backpacker, Auckland, 1 Dec 2018 *Arrest* #2

RSBM (again, sorry!) Lol, wut? How is it not sinister to build a completely false narrative about yourself? A white lie would be saying you are a restaurant manager when in fact you are a waiter or something. Not completely falsifying a career. Also, I thought he claimed Grace misheard and if...

RSBM. So still no explanation about how he accidentally killed her? Just skirting around the issue at hand then. Also, if *his* behaviour after the death apparently doesn't matter, then surely *her* behaviour behind she died shouldn't matter either? Hmmm?

I hope Mr Dickey has a nice cold G+T waiting for him at home. Not bad work for a Thursday! Just reading his words was so powerful, never mind what it must have been like in court actually hearing him say them. Like the other UK posters, I really must get to bed!

Found Deceased NEW ZEALAND - Grace Millane, 22, British backpacker, Auckland, 1 Dec 2018 *Arrest* #2

SBM. IMO, saying "she got in a silly position" is victim blaming. Literally millions of strangers meet in clubs and on apps. They have sex, go home and may or may not see that person again. It's not a silly position, and they certainly don't expect to die Also, let's not forget, we only think...

Who was paying for that private investigator? Surely not legal aid, which goes back to the question, where does he get his money from?

Found Deceased NEW ZEALAND - Grace Millane, 22, British backpacker, Auckland, 1 Dec 2018 *Arrest* #2

Genuine question. Would any of this be admissible in a rape trial? And is it the same in the UK and NZ?

I'm so sad for her. The first part of your first sentence could have been written about literally millions of young woman, myself included. It doesn't mean we should expect to die nor have our sex lives published globally, practically in real-time as it's reported.

God this is awful. Young woman on trip of a life time likes to have casual sex. So what. That doesn't mean she asked to be strangled to death
