    GUILTY VA - Tina Smith, 41, slain, 12yo daughter abducted, Salem, 2 Dec 2010 - #5

If a pool was involved with it being so cold in VA, that would be one reason why it's so difficult to determine TOD. Cold temps alter decay. IF a trucker was involved, I'd LOVE to know how they went through so many weigh stations without one checking the sleeper or where ever they were stowed...

Actually, it did if you look at the door greeter. She looks up again when they went back through the door. OT - What bothers me beyond this story is how much stuff is able to walk out the door because the don't check inside the items when the alarm goes off. Being close to loss prevention...

Typical criminal. Do something stupid and get caught. Arrested for shoplifting only to be discovered to have killed someone. Not a smart perp here.

Might be the case but since he's not from VA, he may not have known. If he just killed her, he's paranoid though this is not his first rodeo if you know what I mean. Taking the ammo and stuffing down his pants would a) delay him at that point in the store and b) give him quite a limp. Of course...

I believe you must have a valid permit to buy ammo in VA. I'm guessing with his record, he would not be able to buy it legally and therefore the ONLY item (besides a gun) he would have to steal.

Was there something white in the cart they didn't place on the belt to be checked?

I know when I go with my kids I can't keep them from wondering off and picking EVERYTHING up off the shelves. "Come on...come on...put that down" etc. 30 minutes in WM is a sprint, IMO.

Did anyone else catch something white in the back of the cart. The first bag he quickly placed on top of it. Two cheap thin sleeping bags. yeah, real outdoorsman. Fidgety threw his pockets then went through a few cards before choosing one. I now know how so many people use stolen cards. No one...

So now that we find out he tried to use a card before WM, it shows me that the murder had already taken place. He was trying to get money to run then get supplies to camp. Boy, I hope that alarm made him mess his pants.

Does anyone else find it funny/interesting that they set off the alarms when leaving? This brings up an interesting thought, if the murder had taken place, wouldn't that alarm freak him out to make him run? I guess that explains the reaching in his back pocket, possibly to put his wallet back...

Even if it was a butt dial, the phone would then have to be on and therefore is pinged by the cell company. It should be trackable and if reports are true about State Police having access to FB and MS pages, I'm sure they have access to his cell account...and hers.

Perhaps a different word than thinking would better suit this guy. It obvious there was tension days leading up to the crime. My thoughts are that he threatened her after she found out something about him, possibly FB/MS related. He got upset and beat her, as he had with his previous wife, and...

If he was an avid camper he wouldn't have had to stop at Walmart. No, I think this is a sudden, unrehearsed, unplanned escape. I have a feeling BS knew about the dangers of this perp from everything I've read so far on here. I have a feeling we will find out it wasn't her at all that...
