    Trial Discussion Thread #52 - 14.11.9, Day 41 ~announcement of the verdict~

She was a witness for the prosecution, if at anytime she was in fear for her life during their relationship, I'm pretty certain Nel would have brought it up?? That was the crux of their case..that OP killed Reeva in a fit of rage. Lol, I now have to go back and see exactly what she testified.

    Trial Discussion Thread #52 - 14.11.9, Day 41 ~announcement of the verdict~

Thanks so much, will go check it out. I understand it now as she said a reasonable man would have thought and considered his actions of which OP had the time to do ...but he didn't so concluded he was not a reasonable man. Lol, I've been so confused about this reasonable man business and where...

Yep, so could that explain why she rejected dolus eventualis??

I could be wrong but I'm sure Masipa ruled OP was NOT a reasonable man??? Will quickly go check

    Trial Discussion Thread #52 - 14.11.9, Day 41 ~announcement of the verdict~

I actually have no idea. I can't imagine it's possible but maybe not unheard of. Maybe she was just overwhelmed when she realised her error...as it was a mistake of epic proportions. But then again, surely her assessors would have discussed this with her prior to her reading the judgement...it's...

    Trial Discussion Thread #52 - 14.11.9, Day 41 ~announcement of the verdict~

I saw a few comments today that perhaps the judge was guided towards the error of her ways and her blantant mistake today...some are speculating that there may be a redirection of her verdict tomorrow...she took a long time to come back to court after lunch, sat for 15 mins and then abruptly...

    Trial Discussion Thread #52 - 14.11.9, Day 41 ~announcement of the verdict~

Why? I have seen more than a dozen times on SA forums that people speculate that OP will get off as he is white and wealthy. I can only imagine the outrage if today's verdict was delivered by a white afrikaner. And you know it's true. Anyhow, I myself dont want to turn this into a race issue...

Public reaction would be complete and utter anarchy...in our already very delicate democracy, the fact that Masipa is black and a woman may just help public perceptions but the race card is already starting to float. This is not going to be pretty.

Yep, don't anyone hold your breathe about any jail time for the gun charges...looking at fine and/or sentence that will be suspended. Gun licence revoked.

    Trial Discussion Thread #52 - 14.11.9, Day 41 ~announcement of the verdict~

I am not surprised in the least at today's events and just confirmed what the country already knows....our justice system is a complete mess. Murders walk out of court every day of the week due to complete incompetence/lost dockets etc etc. I fear the repercussions from today may be...

Morning all, from a miserable Cape Town..even Table Mountain is under a blanket of fog and invisible!

    Trial Discussion Thread #37 - 14.05.12 Day 30

Truth be told, I think there is some truth in the fact that he was a "danger" to society considering his negligence with gun ownership, after all I have learned about his conduct, I can't be surprised that it all ended this way for him, it was almost the inevitable. It still stuns me when I...

    Trial Discussion Thread #37 - 14.05.12 Day 30

None that I know of currently except Dewani and that case looks set to drag. I've followed a few that have used the dolus eventualis stand (jub jub, Jacob Humphrey etc) and most cases where the accused accidently shot loved ones have generally not landed up going to the high court- nor ended in...

Lol, I believe OP will more than likely go to Weskoppies if sectioned, if he isn't unstable now, he will be by the time he comes out- apparently it's hell on earth.

    Trial Discussion Thread #34 - 14.05.06 Day 27

Yep, so are the women of the Muslim faith. I don't find it odd at all lol. Truth be told, if my family lived in JHB, my husband wouldn't allow me to drive at night either, my brother does and he doesn't allow his wife to drive alone at night, its not because they are being dominant, its...

    Trial Discussion Thread #34 - 14.05.06 Day 27

Its quite customary in Zulu culture for women to be obedient and respectful towards their husbands..also, this witness seems to be quite demanding of respect at all times, making the police come to him numerous times before being satisfied he was approached in the correct manner. Definitely a Mr...
