What really bothers me is that along with a 6 year old little girl a queen size comforter is missing. IMO she had to be wrapped in it or someone else...
Timeline:

Anxiously waiting to hear whats going on in that court room but part of me hopes BSL gets to feel the glares from the Shunick and Pate families all day!
Me either- I drive from NOLA to TX quite often and I have stopped at many gas stations between here and there and have never seen one. I'm pretty sure that 9 times out of 10 along the stretch of I-10 from Lafayette to TX he would have had to go inside to pay with cash. AND they want your money...
IMO- ABOSLUTELY!!! You can never have too much evidence against a guilty person and prosecutors can never be too sure of whats going to be allowed and whats going to be thrown out. The more the merrier!
If he used cash- then there would be ATM video of his withdrawal and then where ever he got the gas he would have gone inside to pay putting him on camera again and possibly allowing more witnesses to see his wounds. JMO
I wonder who his car insurance was with. He obviously had decent coverage to get a brand new truck after burning his. I know some auto insurance companies install a device that monitors driving habits in return for a lower premium. Sure would be helpful if BSL had one IMO!
Finally caught up again- this sleuthing is some hard work! I'm thinking LE may have a better timeline than us- placing him in specific places at specific times. We know he sure did a great deal of traveling so I am sure there may be an electronic record of transactions (gas purchases at least)...
LOL! Mamacat u find the best stuff! That guy sounds just like my 82 year old paw paw- he cracks me up when we watch Swamp People and he says "i can't understand what dem damn coonasses are saying!" Even though he talks JUST like that!
IMO- There could be two reasons why the battery charges weren't pursued in 2000.
1.) The DA's office didn't see it as a priority because they had bigger fish to fry at the time or thought he was already getting what was due to him with the SO charge
2.)The BSL could've threatened the wife...
