I can’t imagine the mechanism for how he “cut all his leg up” (per Lucy Law’s interview) on a cactus, if he was on a path? Could the pin drop with his final location be inaccurate enough that he was well off the footpath at this point?
I assumed cactus would cause puncture wounds, rather than...
Hopefully this will bring awareness to the importance of having a phone with fully charged battery, proper walking shoes and plenty of water before hiking in the mountains, and lives will be saved because of this.
It might be a case of, like with Michael Mosley, he’s partly obscured by wall, rocks, in a gulley etc. but under their noses the whole time, in the area where there has been extensive searches already and within a couple of miles of his last known location.
I have a feeling he carried on walking downhill from where his phone last pinged, in to the ravine towards the sea, where it would have been cooler. Maybe sending his location before his phone died gave him a false sense of security that he could continue off the track, with his general...

Maybe his wife is more social and more likely to know their identities, and maybe they wanted to share the scenario with her as it was odd. I get the looking at wallpaper, I’ve reunited a phone with its owner by doing this.
Yeah, I think it’s easy to slate people like this as self interested, which is probably true, but that isn’t to say they also don’t want to genuinely help to find Nicola and do their best for the family too. The goals aren’t mutually exclusive.
