Wow, I totally believe you... but that is so stupid on the dealer's part. They're killing their customer (not that I condone drug use). But, nevertheless.
Does anyone know what floor the fitness room/gym is on? Usually they are on bottom level but maybe she was working out? What else would be on another floor that she may need or want to access?
Right, but would they not have also found her scent outside of the tank? Honestly, I'm not sure that is just what would seem most likely? However, I'm sure there is a great margin of error... but when you take in consideration the kind of work cadaver dogs did post 9/11, I would think their...
I have to agree, and I don't think there is any conspiracy here. Just a sick person doing sick things, which is far too often the case. The things people are capable of and capable of getting away with are all too shocking. Very sad, of course.
If this is the case, then how did the search dogs miss her scent? I think the body was moved to the tank in an effort to hide it, and I don't think she ever made it to the roof alive in the first place.

This could possibly be due to the fact that the perp is a tourist/not a local and/or does not have access to a car. If the body can't be transported away, then you better hide it as best you can where you can and in a place that does not implicate you specifically.
Assuming that, I think it could be possible that the perp was always to her left and never to her right (assuming there is only one). She was backed into the right side wall/opening of the elevator in defense. Elisa was in flight or fight mode and chose flight?
