CA - Dr. Felix Polk, 70, stabbed to death, Orinda, 14 Oct 2002

I've been following this case, and I've never seen someone talk their way INTO first degree murder! She actually told the judge, "No, you interrupted ME!" Reports are that jurists roll their eyes openly now. The one son who testified on her behalf just had to read a letter where he...

CEOs say how you treat a waiter can predict a lot about character

I've always watched people in restaurants and drawn conclusions about their character from their behavior. I think how any of us treat strangers is a real revelation of our own personalities. I have some friends who are very demanding and regularly disappointed. That's just how they see the...

CA - Dr. Felix Polk, 70, stabbed to death, Orinda, 14 Oct 2002

I'm sort of sorry that this trial hasn't attracted much attention over here, since this is the one case I was tracking at a different site. It's been fascinating to me, anyway. Today Adam, the oldest son, takes the stand against his mother. It's sure to be drama-packed!

Woman, 82, ticketed for taking too long to cross street

What I cannot fathom is why the cop didn't realize that this would become major news! What was he thinking?

Whew......that cross-examination will be nasty! Here's the link to today's news, btw. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/04/13/MNGA4I8N4O3.DTL&feed=rss.news

CA - Dr. Felix Polk, 70, stabbed to death, Orinda, 14 Oct 2002

Apparently the medical examiner was on the stand today, testifying that Felix Polk had a heart condition that might have made him more than vulnerable to attack and unable to defend himself vigorously. He also testified that Felix was hit over the head, knocked down, and then stabbed...

CA - Dr. Felix Polk, 70, stabbed to death, Orinda, 14 Oct 2002

Each day of the Susan Polk trial tends to end the same....with her asking for a mistrial, the judge denying her request, and a juicy quip from the prosecutor that sort of spells out the obvious. At least the jurors are being thoroughly entertained while also being dragged through the longest...

CA - Dr. Felix Polk, 70, stabbed to death, Orinda, 14 Oct 2002

Thanks for the update! This son is the one who will be testifying for the defense. I wonder if his arrest will affect his credibility?

CA - Dr. Felix Polk, 70, stabbed to death, Orinda, 14 Oct 2002

From my reading the "battered woman syndrome" is not her defense. In fact, she refused lawyers who suggested that defense. She's stating that it was self-defense. I just saw posted on another site today that she did have 2 black eyes when the police picked her up. However, she'd also made...

CA - Dr. Felix Polk, 70, stabbed to death, Orinda, 14 Oct 2002

I suspect the judge is prepared for this and will handle it. Just my guess....

CA - Dr. Felix Polk, 70, stabbed to death, Orinda, 14 Oct 2002

Interesting...can't wait to hear what he did or did not uncover. She's very paranoid. The prosecuter has requested that he only have to talk to her case manager and said he was going to need therapy by the end of the trial. :D

CA - Dr. Felix Polk, 70, stabbed to death, Orinda, 14 Oct 2002

No, she's not claiming insanity. She's claiming self-defense. Unfortunately for her, her delusions are apparently very paranoid, leading her to proclaim repeatedly to her son that she was going to kill Felix.

CA - Dr. Felix Polk, 70, stabbed to death, Orinda, 14 Oct 2002

Apparently her son who testified did not crumble at all when she cross-examined him. He stated that he could see for himself that she was delusional at times. Today the trial is postponed due to her sore throat.
