Ally worked 12-hour shifts at the hospital. She mostly worked 7p-7a like I do, but occasionally she picked up a 7a-7p shift.
She was “contingent”, which basically meant she agreed to be more flexible with her schedule and didn’t receive full/part time benefits.... but in return she only was required to work 2 days a month minimum and her base pay was increase to around $45/hour.
Most weeks Ally only work 2 12-hour days/nights a week, sometimes 3, because she was also in school (online) for creative writing.

I’m not sure where everyone keeps getting this idea of a “long commute”.
It was a 35-45 min drive from the hospital to her parents house (traffic depending)... Now maybe some of you consider this a “long commute”, but I can tell you that’s probably about the average commute for most nurses I work with.

The hospital we work at is a newer, very nice facility in a very nice, upper middle class, low crime area. Many nurses I work with make much longer commutes than 35-45 mins just to work at this particular hospital for those reasons I just mentioned.

Here’s a question I have for anyone with knowledge on the issue.
It’s in regards to Ally’s page and medical costs...

First thing I’ll say is there is absolutely No Way “Franz brueger” wrote anything on that page... and everyone I’ve talked to who knows Nikki and Franz agrees... that is clearly Nikki speaking as Franz and making it appear as if it’s him saying all those heartfelt things about his daughter. I’ll let you figure out for yourselves why Nikki would want to do something like that.

But here’s my actual question... on the page, Franz (really Nikki) is asking for $30,000 to help pay for funeral costs and “Ally’s medical expenses”... of which they’ve received $22,000.
Now, like I said before, Ally wasn’t receiving benefits from work. However, I know that she DID have a private health insurance plan she was paying for. I’m unaware if she had private life insurance policy. (If anyone knows a way to find this out please let me know!). But for now, let’s just assume she didn’t have any life insurance.

Ok, so Nikki and Franz get $22,000 for funeral and medical costs...
As for Ally’s funeral, it was done at a local church and they had Ally cremated at a local funeral home...(another fact Nikki conveniently left out at the time...I didn’t find this out until 2 weeks after the funeral when I asked Nikki, over lunch, what cemetery Ally was at so I could go visit her)
I’ve looked this up at the funeral home and the package they chose costs around $4,000.

Here’s what I really need some help with... since when do medical bills of deceased adult children fall back on the parents? Ally was an Adult, non-dependent. If anything her parents were dependent on her. Franz had recently retired and even when Ally lived with me, I paid most of our bills, while she regularly helped her mom pay their bills.

So again, why would Nikki and Franz be held responsible for Ally’s medical bills? I could understand maybe them falling on a husband if she was married... but parents? Maybe I’m wrong about this, that’s why I’m asking all of you.
And if they weren’t responsible for Ally’s medical bills... where did the other $18,000 go? Why couldn’t they afford to bury her properly?
Not to mention any life insurance policies we’re unaware of...
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

No, The parents have contributed Zero to the reward money. A reporter I’m talking to asked Nikki if they had thought about using any of their own money for the reward and Nikki told them no, they couldn’t afford that.

I had actually suggested to Nikki a couple days after they set up the first fund, maybe setting up a separate fund dedicated directly to award money. Nikki said no, with the same excuse, it would take money away they needed for her unpaid medical bills.

To be clear, I’m not suggesting money was a motive in this case.
I think motive was they hated each other, always have! Franz never believed Ally was actually his biological daughter, which is why he never wanted anything to do with her, why he tried divorcing Nikki a year after Ally was born, and why he wasn’t happy Nikki let her recently move back home. Ally had been discussing plans to move back out with me and taking Nikki with her, and a long nasty fight turned into an act of violent rage...

But... I do believe Nikki and Franz lied about having to pay her medical bills and tried to profit off of their daughters death after the fact...
Something that personally disgusts me!

If that is, indeed, a possibility, I hope LE has DNA samples from Ally's personal effects (hairbrush, toothbrush, clothing, etc.) given that she was cremated.

DNA would be helpful... but possibly irrelevant. It doesn’t necessarily matter if Ally was his biological daughter or not. All that REALLY matters is that I have multiple lines of evidence that suggests Franz certainly didn’t think she was. And no, I’m not sharing that evidence on this public forum. Sorry.
But yes, I would be interested in seeing a parternity test result at this point. As far as I know, that’s never been done.

Not necessarily irrelevant. Could be a possible motive.

Not to worry. I understand your not wanting to share evidence that might be relevant to the case. I'm sure others here appreciate your telling us what you feel is appropriate until there is a break in the case.

Just as an FYI, it is expensive to lose a loved one outside of cremation costs. I lost my brother unexpectedly and I was shocked at the costs that came up that my parents paid for. Things like cleaning of the crime scene (depending on location), autopsies, flowers, announcements, thank you notes, postage...often if there are no family burial locations and the loss is unexpected, cremation seems more common.

Did Ally have a lot of medical bills?

Ally worked 12-hour shifts at the hospital. She mostly worked 7p-7a like I do, but occasionally she picked up a 7a-7p shift.

Did Ally ever work full time or was the contingent appointment secondary to her going back to school? How long had she been a nurse for?

She had been a nurse for about 4 years. Her first full time nursing job was at Hurley hospital in Flint. She was at Hurley for just over a year after she graduated. She was staying with her parents at the time and that was the closest hospital. If any of you don’t know about the city of flint I strongly suggest you google search “Flint Crime” or just watch “flint town” on Netflix.... then you’ll understand why she was happy to get the position at providence park Novi, even though it was a longer commute. Day and night difference between these 2 areas.
She started as a full time nurse at providence park Novi, and she was full time most of time we were together. She had just recently went “contingent” to focus on school and her writing. The move to contingent was made maybe 6-8 months before she was killed.
Hope this helps!

Eek, Flint! Yes, I absolutely see why she was happy to get a job elsewhere.
You mentioned that you had to ask what cemetery she is in. Did you attend the funeral?

I can see your point. Franz Brueger set up the website on August 1. The page says that it was set up on behalf of Nikki Brueger. I find this a bit odd, because one would think this would be on behalf of both of them. I also wonder how they came up with the number $30,000? On August 1, 2 days after the murder, did they know how much all of the funeral, the hospital bills (if any) etc. were going to cost? I doubt very much that the parents of an adult would have to pay for the hospital bills, or that the parents would have already received any bill on August 1.

I can understand that the parents may be overwhelmed by the possible costs. But perhaps it is better not to put a specific target amount until you know how much the cost is going to be. And perhaps one can announce what will happen with money left over if there is any after all the bills have been paid.

Of course I attended. Ally was above all else... my best friend! The funeral was held at a local church, and the entire experience felt totally unreal... like how could this be reality, kind of feeling. Her casket was there before we arrived. The service was maybe 30 mins long. Then I was there when her casket was loaded on to hearse and drove off into the distance.
Everyone I’ve talked to that attended the funeral (including many of my coworkers, and my entire family) was shocked to hear she had been cremated. It definitely feels like her parents didnt want that to be made obvious for some reason.

I looked at Ally's page again today. I agree, very strange that Franz set up the account on behalf of Nikki and not BOTH of Ally's parents.

If I contributed to a cause and learned that the money had not been used for the purpose intended, I would be :stormingmad: No way to know if that's the case here, but I have to consider why Ally's parents wanted $30,000 within two days of their daughter's death. I strongly doubt they knew what hospital bills would be, and they didn't plan an elaborate funeral.

Combat: just wanted to thank you for taking the time to respond and let us get to know Ally. Hoping the recent media attention and activity will be high yield and bring Ally the justice she deserves!

I hope you find this a fair question, but why didn't you know where Ally was buried until 2 weeks after the funeral? Surely as a boyfriend/fiance you would know sooner than 2 weeks?

After the funeral I wanted to give her parents some space. Nikki I texted a little that first week, and the second week I asked her to meet me for lunch. During lunch I asked Nikki where Ally was buried because I had been wanting to go visit her and that’s when I was told she wasn’t... she was cremated.
I definitely should been told this sooner, but I wasn’t just left out of any of decision making processes... I was also left completely in the dark about them as well.

Hmmm ... a casket and then cremation? They would have to pay nearly as much as a regular full funeral service then, price to “use” a casket, hearse, etc.
